Melting-layer modelling at C-Band [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Radio Science, 2010
Stratiform cloud formations, such as a uniform type of precipitating clouds, are sub dividable into layers with different aggregate states. In this way, it is adaptable to measurements with polarimetric radar.

Sequential Q- and C-band staining of pig chromosomes, and some comments on C-band polymorphism and C-band technique [PDF]

open access: yesHereditas, 2008
Sequential Q- and C-band staining of chromosomes of domestic pig (Sus scrofa domestica) is presented, probably for the first time, and the C-band pattern is described. Large C-bands were usually found on pair Nos. 1, 13, 15, 16, and 18, but in some animals large C-bands were found on other pairs, too.

New C band markers of human chromosomes: C band position variants. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Genetics, 1980
Although it is well known that variations in size are common in the centric heterochromatin of human chromosomes, it has not been appreciated that centric heterochromatin may be positioned either entirely on the short arm, centrally, or entirely on the long arm.

C-Band All-Sky Survey: A First Look at the Galaxy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We present an analysis of the diffuse emission at 5 GHz in the first quadrant of the Galactic plane using two months of preliminary intensity data taken with the C-Band All Sky Survey (C-BASS) northern instrument at the Owens Valley Radio Observatory ...

On Sea Ice Measurement by a C-Band Scatterometer at VV Polarization: Methodology Optimization Based on Computer Simulations

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
We consider sea ice and water microwave backscatter features at the C-band with vertical transmit and receive polarization and present a method for sea ice/water discrimination using a multiple fixed fan-beam satellite scatterometer.

Multi-band SAR intercomparison study in the Antarctic Peninsula for sea ice and iceberg detection

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2023
Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems are one of the best resources to gather information in polar environments, but the detection and monitoring of sea ice types and icebergs using them is still a challenge. Limitations using single-frequency images in

Rapid Detection of Windthrows Using Sentinel-1 C-Band SAR Data

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
Storm events are capable of causing windthrow to large forest areas. A rapid detection of the spatial distribution of the windthrown areas is crucial for forest managers to help them direct their limited resources.

The C-Band All-Sky Survey (C-BASS): design and capabilities [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2018
The C-Band All-Sky Survey (C-BASS) is an all-sky full-polarization survey at a frequency of 5 GHz, designed to provide complementary data to the all-sky surveys of WMAP and Planck, and future CMB B-mode polarization imaging surveys.

28 Gb/s direct modulation heterogeneously integrated C-band InP/SOI DFB laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We demonstrate direct modulation of a heterogeneously integrated C-band DFB laser on SOI at 28 Gb/s with a 2 dB extinction ratio. This is the highest direct modulation bitrate so far reported for a membrane laser coupled to an SOI waveguide.
