C-Banding of Plant Chromosomes

2016
C-banding is used to differentially stain metaphase chromosomes in organisms having appreciable amounts of constitutive heterochromatin. Its primary benefits are that it is an inexpensive and a relatively fast method of identifying individual chromosomes and morphological or karyotypic variation, including large chromosomal rearrangements and ...

G and/or c-bands in plant chromosomes?

Journal of Cell Science, 1984
ABSTRACT Similarities and differences become evident from comparisons of centromeric and noncentromeric banding patterns in plant and animal chromosomes. Similar to C and G-banding in animals (at least most of the reptiles, birds and mammals), centromeric and nucleolus-organizing region bands as well as interstitially and ...

C-band coherent direct synthesizer [PDF]

open access: possible12th International Conference on Microwaves and Radar. MIKON-98. Conference Proceedings (IEEE Cat. No.98EX195), 2002
The principle of operation of a direct coherent synthesizer is described. Practical realisation and measurement results of the C-band synthesizer are presented. Good parameters such as small frequency steps, fast switching time and low phase noise level are obtained.

In-fiber pulse reshaping in the C-band [PDF]

open access: possible2015 17th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2015
We have investigated ultrashort parabolic pulse formation via passive nonlinear reshaping in commercially available normal dispersive optical fibers at 1550 nm. It was investigated parabolic pulse formation in the transient-state regime and in the steady-state regime. The most suitable fiber for pulse reshaping was found. We have shown that femtosecond

Giemsa C-banding of potato chromosomes

Canadian Journal of Genetics and Cytology, 1984
An air-drying technique was developed that provided well-spread somatic metaphases of the potato Solanum tuberosum. With Giemsa C-banding, the individual chromosomes (x = 12) could be identified. Some bands are different from those in S. phureja. The technique provides a means to investigate structural differences between genomes.Key words: C-banding,

C-Band Satellite Communications

30th AIAA International Communications Satellite System Conference (ICSSC), 2012
Commercial satellite communications began in the early 1960s, building on C-band technologies developed in previous decades for point-to-point terrestrial microwave links. As the industry has grown, C-band usage in satellite communications has been augmented, but not replaced, by the usage of higher frequency bands.

INHERITANCE OF Q AND C BAND POLYMORPHISMS

Canadian Journal of Genetics and Cytology, 1977
Sequential Q and C banding of chromosomes from 36 individuals in three unrelated families revealed Q band variants on 6 different chromosomes and C band variants on 14 different chromosomes. These variants were inherited in Mendelian fashion with one exception in which a C band variant absent in the parents was found in a child. Although some of the Q

C-Band Heteromorphism in Breast Cancer Patients

Cancer Genetics and Cytogenetics, 1985
The pattern of heteromorphism in the C-band-positive constitutive heterochromatin of human chromosomes #1, #9, and #16 was studied in peripheral lymphocytes of 54 breast cancer patients and 78 control individuals. The parameters of the heterochromatic regions analyzed were relative size, symmetry-asymmetry within homologous pairs, and prevalence of ...

C-Banding in Vicia Species

1984
Using Leishmans stain for C-banding, the authors indicate the use of this approach for identifying chromosome aberrations and clarifying taxonomic relationships and seek to apply them to resolve the origin and evolutionary history of V. faba. Chromosomes of six species of Vicia were examined including four accessions of V. faba.

The ultrastructure of G- and C-banded chromosomes

Experimental Cell Research, 1975
Abstract A method of visualizing chromosome bands by electron microscopy has been used to investigate the fine structural organization of G- and C-banded chromosomes. The following information has been obtained: 1. 1. G-bands, produced by trypsinization, were electron dense regions of highly packed chromatin fibres separated by regions in which ...
