Synthesis and Photocatalytic sp3 C-H Bond Functionalization of Salen-Ligand-Supported Uranyl(VI) Complexes

open access: yesMolecules
Recent years have seen increasing interest in uranyl(VI) photocatalysis. In this study, uranyl complexes were successfully synthesized from ligands L1–L6 and UO2(NO3)2·6H2O under reflux conditions, yielding products 1–6 with yields ranging from 30% to 50%

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Light-driven C–H activation mediated by 2D transition metal dichalcogenides

open access: yesNature Communications
C–H bond activation enables the facile synthesis of new chemicals. While C–H activation in short-chain alkanes has been widely investigated, it remains largely unexplored for long-chain organic molecules.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Functionalisations at activated and non-activated C-H bonds

open access: yes, 2021
Site-selective, late-stage functionalisation of non-activated C-H bonds represents a challenge for organic chemists because these bonds are among the strongest in nature. Particularly, with regards to chlorination of non-activated C-H bonds, a method that allows for their benign, facile ad site-selective chlorination has yet to be developed.\ud \ud ...

Copper catalysis in arene and heteroarene functionalization through C-H bond activation

open access: yes, 2012
A review was given on providing a comprehensive overview on arene and heteroarene functionalization by C-H bond activation. In general, reactions based on the use of a stoichiometric amt. of copper are not discussed herein. Copper-catalyzed arene and

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...
