Comparison of the heterochromatin and telomeric sequences distribuition in chromosomes of 11 species of Amazonian marsupials (Didelphimorphia; Didelphidae) [PDF]

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology
In recent decades the diploid numbers recorded in the New World marsupials have been widely discussed in the context of the processes of karyotype evolution in these mammals.

Interaction Between Vortex‐Induced Vibrations and Base Vibrations in Piezoelectric Harvesters

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT In the present era, powering sensors using green energy is a significant challenge. One promising solution for the power supply of small sensors relies on piezoelectric energy harvesters excited by vortex‐induced vibrations (VIVs) generated by wind.

Risk Analysis on C-ITS Pseudonymity Aspects [PDF]

open access: yes2019 10th IFIP International Conference on New Technologies, Mobility and Security (NTMS), 2019
In the near future, vehicles will communicate with their environment by broadcasting Vehicle to everything (V2x) messages over the vehicular network (IEEE 802.11p). The exchanged messages contain data related to driver's privacy. As the laws in Europe require the privacy protection, the solution is to use pseudonym identities (certificates) in the ...

Configurational Energy as a Microstructural Descriptor of Failure Precursors in 2D Frictional Granular Materials

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Localized deformation in dense granular materials, often culminating in the formation of shear bands, is a key failure mechanism in geotechnical and material systems. However, predicting the onset of such localization remains a fundamental challenge due to the system's inherent inelasticity and microstructural complexity.

On the distribution of the of Frobenius elements on elliptic curves over function fields

open access: yes, 2002
Let $C$ be a smooth projective curve over $\mathbb{F}_q$ with function field $K$, $E/K$ a nonconstant elliptic curve and $\phi:\mathcal{E}\to C$ its minimal regular model.

Scenario‐Based Platoon Lane Network Design

open access: yesNetworks, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT A truck platoon is a set of trucks that drive behind one another at short headways to save fuel, reduce emissions, and improve traffic throughput. Despite the potential benefits of platooning, road operators have raised concerns about the impact of platoons on surrounding traffic.

Higher Monodromy

open access: yes, 2004
For a given category C and a topological space X, the constant stack on X with stalk C is the stack of locally constant sheaves with values in C. Its global objects are classified by their monodromy, a functor from the Poincare groupoid of X to C.

Water Co‐Adsorption in Ultrathin Films of Ionic Liquids on Pt(111)

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
At 100 K, IL adsorption on D2O precovered Pt(111) partially displaces interfacial water resulting in a water‐IL co‐adsorbed layer. Upon heating to 130 K, IL ions migrate to the metal interface, thereby destabilizing adsorbed water as shown by the ≈10 K reduction in its desorption temperature.

Health Impacts of Traditional Medicines and Bio-prospecting: A World Scenario Accentuating Bhutan's Perspective [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Life without natural products is unimaginable. It has provided mankind with oxygen, water, fire, food, clothing, shelter and medicine. Its public health impact is considerably high, especially of traditional medicines and nature-based modern drugs.

Tbx5a lineage tracing shows cardiomyocyte plasticity during zebrafish heart regeneration

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
It is not clear if it is the embryonic origin or anatomical location of cardiomyocytes that restrict their contribution to zebrafish heart regeneration.
