Energy and Cost Footprint Reduction for 5G and Beyond With Flexible Radio Access Network
This paper focuses on Beyond fifth generation (B5G) non-linear data modeling and decision-making tools to optimize cost reduction versus coverage-QoS trade-off, in other words, the number of active Remote Radio Heads or Units (RRHs) needed according to ...

On Performance Analysis of Single Frequency Network With C-RAN [PDF]
Centralized-RAN (C-RAN) is an architectural trend that uses resource sharing and a set of interference mitigation techniques to reduce capital and operational expenditures for mobile network operators (MNOs). One of the technical enablers of a C-RAN solution is single frequency network (SFN) that curbs the interference and allows MNOs to transmit over ...

Parallel Interference Cancellation for Cell-Free C-RANs
This paper formulates a linear receiver for the uplink of centralized, possibly cloud-based, radio access networks operating in a cell-free fashion. This receiver, which draws on the notion of soft parallel interference cancellation, exhibits substantial interference rejection abilities, yet it does not involve any matrix inversions.

Performance Evaluation in Single or Multi-Cluster C-RAN Supporting Quasi-Random Traffic [PDF]
In this paper, a cloud radio access network (C-RAN) is considered where the remote radio heads (RRHs) are separated from the baseband units (BBUs). The RRHs in the C-RAN are grouped in different clusters according to their capacity while the BBUs form a ...
