The prognostic value of the Dandel's index in patients undergoing tricuspid transcatheter edge‐to‐edge repair

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Load adaptation indices and concepts. An adapted RV in response to overload increases wall thickness to normalize wall stress and preserve function and morphology. If hemodynamic overload is sustained, it can progress to a maladaptive state and lead eventually to heart failure. CI, cardiac index; Ees, ventricular elastance; Ea, arterial elastance; MPAP,

Machine learning approach to identify phenotypes in patients with ischaemic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Summary of the machine learning clustering methodology and results of the study. Clusters are identified using machine learning approach in the learning set population evaluating specific combinations of multiple characteristics. Then identified clusters are predicted and tested in the learning set to evaluate their association with outcomes.

The risk of death according to left ventricular ejection fraction and right ventricular dilatation in 17 321 adults with heart failure from 40 high‐, middle‐ and low‐income countries – A Global Congestive Heart Failure (G‐CHF) study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims The aim of this study was to describe the prognostic importance of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) versus right ventricular (RV) dilatation and dysfunction in patients with heart failure (HF) from countries of different income levels. Methods and results We enrolled 17 321 participants with HF from 40 countries.

End‐organ protective effect of serelaxin in patients hospitalized for heart failure: Results of the biomarker substudy of Relaxin in Acute Heart Failure‐2 (RELAX‐AHF‐2)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
End‐organ protective effect of serelaxin in patients with acute heart failure. CV, cardiovascular; HF, heart failure; NT‐proBNP, N‐terminal pro‐B‐type natriuretic peptide. Abstract Aims Serelaxin is recombinant human relaxin‐2, a hormone responsible for haemodynamic adaptations and organ protection in pregnancy.

The transcriptional profile of iron deficiency in patients with heart failure: Heme‐sparing and reduced immune processes

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
The analysis workflow, findings and potential clinical consequences of iron deficiency in heart failure (HF). From 881 patients with worsening HF, whole blood transcriptome was analysed using the Affymetrix Human Transcriptome Array (HTA) 2.0. Subjects were stratified according to their transferrin saturation (TSAT) levels as iron‐deficient (TSAT <20%)

Association of a remote monitoring programme with all‐cause mortality and hospitalizations in patients with heart failure: National‐scale, real‐world evidence from a 3‐year propensity score analysis of the TELESAT‐HF study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Association of a remote monitoring programme (RMP) with all‐cause mortality and hospitalization in heart failure (HF) patients. COPD, chronic obstructive pulmonary oedema; HR, hazard ratio; ICU, intensive care unit; LTI, long‐term illness; RR, rate ratio; SoC, standard of care.

Remote patient monitoring in heart failure: A comprehensive meta‐analysis of effective programme components for hospitalization and mortality reduction

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Remote patient monitoring in heart failure (HF). Abstract AimsMethods of non‐invasive remote patient monitoring (RPM) for heart failure (HF) remain diverse. Understanding factors that influence the effectiveness of RPM on HF‐related and all‐cause hospitalizations, mortality, and emergency department visits is crucial for developing successful RPM ...

Cardiovascular magnetic resonance‐estimated pulmonary capillary wedge pressure, congestion markers, and effect of empagliflozin in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction and dysglycaemia (SUGAR‐DM‐HF)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims A cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) approach to non‐invasively estimate left ventricular (LV) filling pressure was recently developed and shown to correlate with invasively measured pulmonary capillary wedge pressure (PCWP). We examined the association between CMR‐estimated PCWP (CMR‐PCWP) and other imaging and biomarker measures of
