The brown colour effect (BCE) of Cryptococcus neoformans in the diagnosis, control and epidemiology of C. neoformans infections in AIDS patients

Zentralblatt für Bakteriologie, Mikrobiologie und Hygiene. Series A: Medical Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, Virology, Parasitology, 1987
Cryptococcus neoformans was found as the causative agent of cryptococcosis in 7 (3.6%) out of 195 HIV-positive persons, most of them being hospitalized. In vitro antifungal susceptibility of clinical isolates of Cryptococcus neoformans var. neoformans and C. neoformans var. gattii.

Revista iberoamericana de micologia, 2012
One of the differences observed between the two varieties of Cryptococcus neoformansis the greater difficulty to achieve an adequate therapeutical response in patients affected by C. neoformans var. gattii, an observation that has been validated in vitro only rarely. The aim of this work was to study the susceptibility patterns of 35 Colombian clinical

Role of mannoprotein in induction and regulation of immunity to C. neoformans

2001
Our previous observations showed that mannoprotein (MP) induces early and massive production of interleukin-12 (IL-12) in vitro. This study was designed to investigate whether this phenomenon could be applied in vivo and to determine the biological significance of MP in Cryptococcus neoformans infection. The results reported here show that MP treatment
