The change in the dipole state of C/sup 12/ produced by the addition of a single neutron is calculated. The C/sup 12/ nucleus is considered as a closed- shell nucleus in the j-j coupling model, and C/sup 13/ is considered as the addition of a 1p/sub 1/2 valence neutron to this C/sup 12/ nucleus.

The fission of uranium by C13 ions
Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry, 1956Abstract The relative yields of seventeen nuclides from the fission of natural uranium by C 13 ions of maximum energy 100 MeV have been measured by radiochemical methods. The typical features of high-energy fission were observed: symmetric fission predominates; nuclides near to β stability have significant independent yields; approximately eleven ...

Centripetal force and balancing (C13)
1982Fig. 13.1 represents a point A on a rotating tyre when it has moved to point B. The tyre is rotating at a constant angular velocity. Point A has a velocity perpendicular to OA, and when it moves to point B its velocity will be perpendicular to OB, hence, although the rotational speed is constant, the direction of the velocity has changed, and is ...
