Phase Engineering of Nanomaterials (PEN): Evolution, Current Challenges, and Future Opportunities

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the synthesis, phase transition, advanced characterization spanning ex situ to in situ and operando techniques, and diverse applications of phase engineering of nanomaterials (PEN). It further outlines key challenges and future opportunities, such as phase stability, architecture control, and artificial intelligence (AI)‐driven ...

A novel technique for C1-C2 posterior screw insertion using patient-specific guides created by CT-based 3D printing [PDF]

open access: yes
C1-C2 fixation has been developed for the rigid fusion of atlantoaxial instability. C1 lateral mass screw (C1 LMS)-C2 pedicle screw fixation is used more frequently due to its rigid fixation and high bone fusion rate.

Far‐Infrared Hyperbolic Phonon–Polaritons in Zirconium Disulfide

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An unpatterned ZrS2${\rm ZrS}_2$ flake, coupled to far‐field infrared light by metal nanoribbons, reveals hyperbolic phonon polaritons with multiple higher‐order branches and effective refractive indices up to 223. This resonator‐assisted approach establishes ZrS2${\rm ZrS}_2$ as a compact van der Waals platform for deeply subwavelength far‐infrared ...

Comparison of B16-luc, LLC1-luc and TRAMP-C2-luc tumor cell dissemination versus microsphere dissemination (7 and 16 μm diameter) in osseous organs.

open access: yes, 2016
(A) Only ~5% of tumor cells and microbeads disseminated to the spine. No significant difference was found between the groups. (B) Long bones revealed dissemination fractions between ~10–25%.

A Chemical Framework for Engineering Extracellular Vesicles’ Biointerface to Advance Precision Therapeutics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are cell‐derived nanoparticles that mediate intercellular communication through their dynamic biointerfaces. Owing to their intrinsic biological functions, EVs have emerged as promising platforms for biomedical applications.

Ionizable Lipid‐Dependent Optimization of Steroid Lipid Nanoparticles With Tunable Immunomodulatory Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A novel engineering strategy that establishes material design principles for incorporating anti‐inflammatory steroids into lipid nanoparticles to reduce LNP‐induced inflammation while retaining mRNA delivery. Results are validated in vitro and in three animal models of inflammation and autoimmunity in vivo.

Chiral Altermagnetic Magnetoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we introduce a previously unexplored class of magnetoelectric materials, which we term chiral altermagnetic magnetoelectrics, in which structural chirality and Néel‐vector‐driven polarization are intrinsically coupled in nonpolar altermagnetic systems.

Soft Skins With Reversible Thickness Morphing: Materials, Mechanisms, and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Evolution of electronic skin (e‐skin) technologies toward adaptive, multifunctional soft skins. Phase I highlights early rigid and discrete sensory interfaces. Phase II shows the transition toward flexible, stretchable, and large‐area e‐skin. Phase III captures the emergence of computational e‐skin.
