Training and Interpreting Machine Learning Models: Application in Property Tax Assessment

open access: yesReal Estate Management and Valuation, 2022
In contrast to the outstanding performance of the machine learning approach, its adoption in industry appears to be relatively slow compared to the speed of its proliferation in a variety of business sectors.

Identification of nonlinear determinants of stock indices derived by Random Forest algorithm

open access: yesInternational Journal of Management and Economics, 2020
In this paper, the use of the machine learning algorithm is examined in derivation of the determinants of price movements of stock indices. The Random Forest algorithm was selected as an ideal representative of the nonlinear algorithms based on decision ...

Biosynthetic Pathway for the C45 Polyprenol, Solanesol, in Tobacco

open access: yesBioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2004
Feeding experiments were independently performed with [1-13C]deoxy-D-xylulose triacetate and (RS)-[2-13C]mevalonolactone in the tobacco plant. The labeling pattern for solanesol was elucidated to reveal that the isoprene moiety of solanesol would be derived from deoxy-xylulose.

Representing Uncertainty in Property Valuation Through a Bayesian Deep Learning Approach

open access: yesReal Estate Management and Valuation, 2020
Although deep learning-based valuation models are spreading throughout the real estate industry following the artificial intelligence boom, property owners and investors continue to doubt the accuracy of the results.

Occurrence of C35–C45 polyprenols in filamentous and unicellular cyanobacteria [PDF]

open access: yesOrganic Geochemistry, 2010
Polyprenols, regular (head-to-tail) isoprenoid alcohols with 7-9 prenyl units, were tentatively identified in several cultivated cyanobacteria Heptaprenol (C35), octaprenol (C40) and a suite of nonaprenols (C45) were present in unicellular and filamentous non-heterocystous cyanobacteria, while they were absent in heterocystous species Structurally ...

A low-protein, high carbohydrate diet induces increase in serum adiponectin and preserves glucose homeostasis in rats

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências
: The aim of this study was investigate the effects of a low-protein, high-carbohydrate (LPHC) diet introduced to rats soon after weaning. The animals were distributed in the following groups: LPHC45: fed an LPHC diet (6%-protein, 74%-carbohydrate) for ...

Upscaling Sodium‐Ion Battery Cells: From Aqueous Processing to Performance Assessment of Hard Carbon|Prussian White Pouch Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the feasibility of scaling up Prussian White (PW)‐based cathode manufacturing at a pilot scale. Through careful PW dehydration combined with optimized aqueous processing, we report the stepwise development of industrially relevant 1 Ah pouch cells and evaluate their performance under various conditions.

Breaking the Durability–Power Trade‐Off: Boron‐Directed Faceted O3 Cathodes for High‐Rate Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Boron‐oxide‐assisted particle engineering stabilizes O3‐type layered cathodes for sodium‐ion batteries by mitigating phase transitions and lattice strain. Acting as flux and structural modifier, boron forms submicron hexagonal platelets with (003) facets and expanded Na‐layer spacing, enabling rapid Na⁺ diffusion and mechanical resilience.

Assessing Mesoscale Heterogeneities in Hard Carbon Electrodes Through Deep Learning‐Assisted FIB‐SEM Characterization, Manufacturing and Electrochemical Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A combination of discrete and finite element method models for the current collector deformation and electrochemical performance analysis, respectively. The models are calibrated and validated with electrochemical and imaging data of hard carbon electrodes. These electrodes were manufactured with different parameters (slurry solid contents of 35 and 40

A Closed‐Loop Direct Recycling Process for Prussian White From Scrap and End‐of‐Life Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A closed‐loop direct recycling route for Prussian White sodium‐ion battery cathodes is demonstrated. Ice‐stripped scrap and end‐of‐life electrodes are regenerated via low‐temperature aqueous resodiation (80°C), restoring sodium content, Fe2+ redox chemistry, and structural integrity.
