A new solid material has been created in ultra high vacuum by utilizing the aggregation process of C58 molecules deposited onto highly oriented pyrolytic graphite from a mass selected low-energy ion beam comprising C58+. Cluster fluxes of up to 3x10(11) ions s-1 cm-2 with impinging kinetic energies of 6+/-0.5 eV were typically applied.

Cytokine production by NZB, C58, and NZB × C58 recombinant inbred mice
Cellular Immunology, 1984Humans with autoimmune disease and autoimmune mouse strains such as NZB have been shown to produce reduced levels of the cytokines interleukin 1 and interleukin 2. The NZB X C58 recombinant inbred (N X 8 RI) strains exhibit certain of the autoimmune characteristics of the NZB strain.

Deuteration-induced scission of C58 oligomers
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 2006The reaction of solid C58 films with atomic deuterium to yield deuterofullerenes, C58Dx, has been investigated by thermal desorption spectroscopy coupled with mass spectrometric detection, ultraviolet photoionization spectroscopy (21.2eV), and atomic force microscopy (AFM).

Histopathology of Immune Polioencephalomyelitis in C58 Mice
Archives of Neurology, 1973Immune polioencephalomyelitis (IPE) in C58 mice was induced by immunization with syngeneic malignant lymphocytes. Signs of disease occurred 9 to 15 days after immunization —impaired spreading reflex of the hind limbs, impaired grasp reflex of the hind legs, flaccid paralysis, and death in some animals.

Immunization of C58 Mice to Line Ib Leukemia*
The Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1963exposed to UV light for 15 to 30 minutes was the most immunogenic. A dose of 10s cells per ml was only weakly immunogenic. A dose of IO8 UV-irradiated cells killed all of the recipient mice. However, when IO8 cells were exposed to 15,000 R of X-irradiation they were strongly immunogenic ; a 10s cell dose exposed to 5,000-15,000 R was not immunogenic. A
