Electronic structure of Sc3N@C68
Chemical Physics, 2013Abstract Ultraviolet photoelectron spectra (UPS) and X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS) of non-IPR endohedral fullerene Sc3N@C68 are measured. A simulated spectrum generated from a geometry optimized structure calculated by the density functional theory reproduces the UPS very well.

Abstract C68: Phenotypic and functional heterogeneity of prostate cancer stem cells
Cancer Research, 2012Abstract Recent evidence in many tumor systems suggests that there may exist several or even many tumorigenic subpopulations in each tumor. Utilizing 4 xenograft human prostate cancer (PCa) models, including two AR+/PSA+ (LAPC9 and LAPC4) and two AR-/PSA- (Du145 and PC3) xenografts, and by performing exhaustive limiting-dilution tumor ...

C68-30 ICU Puzzle: A Rare Mycobacterial Culprit
American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care MedicineAbstract Introduction Mycobacterium immunogenum is a rapidly growing nontuberculous mycobacterium classically associated with metalworking environments. It can cause pneumonitis or predispose individuals to chronic pulmonary infections, although the exact pathogenic mechanism remains unclear ...

Abstract C68: Decreased antitumor cytotoxic immunity in African American colon cancer
Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention, 2016Abstract Background: African Americans (AA) have a higher incidence of colorectal cancer (CRC) and more aggressive disease than patients of other ethnicities. Several studies have suggested that biological/genetic factors contribute to this health disparity.

C68-24 Nontuberculous Mycobacterial Infection in a Patient With Metastatic Prostate Cancer
American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care MedicineAbstract Introduction Nontuberculous mycobacterial (NTM) infection is uncommon and has a prevalence between 1.4 and 13.9 per 100,000 people, though case rates are often higher in patients with compromised immune systems and structural lung disease.

C68-03 Atypical Mycobacterial Avium Complex Infection in Immunocompetent Male
American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care MedicineAbstract Purpose Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) is a ubiquitous acid fast bacillus and the most common cause of nontuberculosis mycobacterial infections in humans. While MAC commonly affects immunocompromised patients, immunocompetent individuals can rarely develop both localized and ...

C68-14 Atypical Presentation of Disseminated Mycobacterium Kansasii as an Endobronchial Lesion
American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care MedicineAbstract Introduction Mycobacterium kansasii is a slow-growing, photochromogenic nontuberculous mycobacterium (NTM) known to cause pulmonary infections resembling tuberculosis, particularly in immunocompromised hosts such as patients with HIV/AIDS.
