Expression of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) in the lungs of an experimental sepsis mouse model. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Sepsis is a condition characterized by high mortality rates and often accompanied by multiple-organ dysfunction. During sepsis, respiratory system may be affected and possibly result in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

Plasmodium falciparum Chloroquine-pfcrt Resistant Haplotypes in Brazilian Endemic Areas Four Decades after CQ Withdrawn

open access: yesPathogens, 2023
(1) Background: Malaria is a public health problem worldwide. Despite global efforts to control it, antimalarial drug resistance remains a great challenge.

Nuclear pasta structures and the charge screening effect [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev. C72 (2005) 015802, 2005
Non uniform structures of the nucleon matter at subnuclear densities are numerically studied by means of the density functional theory with relativistic mean-fields coupled with the electric field. A particular role of the charge screening effects is demonstrated.

Locally Rotationally Symmetric Bianchi Type $I$ Cosmology in $f(R,T)$ Gravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This manuscript is devoted to investigate Bianchi Type $I$ universe in the context of $f(R,T)$ gravity. For this purpose, we explore the exact solutions of locally rotationally symmetric Bianchi type $I$ spacetime. The modified field equations are solved

Pentaquarks in the medium in the quark-meson coupling model [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev. C72 (2005) 058201, 2005
We calculate the properties of the pentaquarks $\Theta^+$ and $\Xi^{--,0}$ in symmetric nuclear matter using the quark meson coupling model (QMC). The stability of the $\Theta^+$ in the medium with respect to the channel $\Theta^+\to NK^+$ is discussed.

Proton radii and two-photon exchange [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev.C72:057601,2005, 2005
We investigate the effect of two-photon exchange processes upon the rms- and Zemach radii extracted from electron-proton scattering. We find that the changes are small and do not help to explain the discrepancy between experimental and calculated HFS in the hydrogen atom.

Number of states for nucleons in a single-$j$ shell [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev. C72 (2005) 064333, 2005
In this paper we obtain number of states with a given spin $I$ and a given isospin $T$ for systems with three and four nucleons in a single-$j$ orbit, by using sum rules of six-$j$ and nine-$j$ symbols obtained in earlier works.

Use of updated mortality study of ethylene oxide manufacturing workers to inform cancer risk assessment

open access: yesRisk Analysis, EarlyView.
Abstract The two most recent cancer risk assessments for ethylene oxide (EO) are based on the same epidemiologic study of sterilant workers conducted by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) but result in cancer risk estimates with three orders of magnitude difference, despite relying on the same assumption of a default ...

A description of the yrast states in 24-Mg by the self-consistent 3D-cranking model [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev. C72 (2005) 057304, 2005
With the self-consistent 3D-cranking model, the ground-state rotational band in 24-Mg is analysed. A role of triaxial deformation is discussed, in particular, in a description of the observed two I=8+ states.

Risk of Second Primary Neoplasms Among Cancer Survivors: A Population‐Based, Cohort Study in Golestan Province, Northern Iran, 2004–2019

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 14, Issue 10, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Recent reports of the Golestan population‐based cancer registry (GPCR) suggested increasing trends in the incidence and survival rates of cancers in Golestan, Northern Iran. We investigated the risk of developing second primary neoplasms (SPNs) among cancer survivors in Golestan.
