Vehicle Fires: Significant Fire Hazard in Transportation Infrastructure

open access: yesFire and Materials, Volume 50, Issue 8, Page 927-940, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Vehicle flammability poses a critical threat to transportation infrastructure, with recent fires in depots, tunnels, and car parks highlighting systemic vulnerabilities. These incidents often result in the total loss of vehicles and buildings, revealing the inadequacy of current fire safety standards for vehicle materials.

Comparative Performance Analysis of an Open Source Motion‐Compensated Cardiac Diffusion Sequence Across Different MRI Systems and Gradient Strengths—A Pilot Study

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 96, Issue 6, Page 2629-2641, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To validate the performance of an open‐source cardiac diffusion sequence framework and to investigate hardware‐based performance differences. Methods Three second order motion compensated sequence files were compiled using Pulseq and applied across different MRI systems to image five volunteers.

Resurvey of Boreal Earthworm Communities in Southern and Northern Finland

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Zoology, Volume 53, Issue 4, December 2026.
Boreal forests account for 11.5% of the Earth's land area, and, unlike oceanic and mediterranean forests, their cold winters typically represent the harshest season for earthworms. In Fennoscandia, these forests are subject to substantial global changes, notably climate change and land use intensification, which might impact earthworm populations.

The Poster Child of Climate Change? The Changing Iconography of the Arctic Polar Bear

open access: yesArea, Volume 58, Issue 4, December 2026.
Short Abstract This paper shows how climate change reports in popular media incorporate images of polar bears. Conventional images of polar bears have been widely discredited. Alternative images can help to convey messages about crisis and emergency, as well as global warming, and show how spatial relations are changing in consequence.

Enby Ecologies: On Being Fluid in the Field

open access: yesArea, Volume 58, Issue 4, December 2026.
Short Abstract In this essay, three non‐binary dendrochronologists braid together a visual and reflexive autoethonography, pulling from years of personal anecdotes, photographs and illustrations to reflect on being non‐binary in field‐based disciplines within environmental geography to tend towards our lived ‘enby ecologies’.

Making Shrimp in Moral Economies: Time, Ethics, and Labor in a Global Supply Chain

open access: yesAnthropology of Work Review, Volume 47, Issue 2, December 2026.
ABSTRACT This article is part of the special issue 'Morality at Work: Ethnographies of Labor and Ethics' edited by Michael Vine and Sarah Winkler‐Reid. This article explores how future‐oriented temporalities shape people's labor experiences and ethical subjectivities within the global supply chain of brown shrimp.

Mapping Flood Exposure and Consequences in Caravan and Mobile‐Home Parks: A Scoping and Bibliometric Review

open access: yesJournal of Flood Risk Management, Volume 19, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Caravan and mobile‐home parks combine tourism, housing and communal infrastructure but remain weakly represented in flood‐risk assessment and disaster appraisal. This review maps evidence on their flood exposure, vulnerability and consequences and develops a structured basis for sector‐specific appraisal.

Shifting Dietary Ecologies of Early Ungulates Across the Paleocene–Eocene Thermal Maximum in the Bighorn Basin, Wyoming

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 11, November 2026.
Understanding the interplay between climate change and ecology is crucial when attempting to reconstruct the evolutionary history of species. Here we use dental microwear texture analysis to infer the foraging ecologies of three lineages of early ungulates across the Paleocene–Eocene Thermal Maximum. We recovered differences in foraging guilds and only
