X-ray measure of tensile force in post-tensioned steel cables

Construction and Building Materials, 2021
Abstract Non-Destructive Testing methods are key tools for the proper characterization of existing constructions and for their reliable structural assessment. Even if several sophisticated methods are currently available, the possibility of using them strongly depends on the analyzed structural typology.

The Measurement and Control of Cable Tensile Forces in Cable-Stayed Bridge using Laser Vibrometer

IABSE Congress Reports, 2012
<p>Currently, indirect measurement using dynamic data from cable is widely used measuring the natural frequency of cable from the accelerometer attached to the surface and convert the data into tensile force. However, it sometimes requires many hazardous works such as attaching the device on the surface of cable, writing it with data logger, etc,

A Combined Method for Measuring Cable Forces: The Cable-Stayed Alamillo Bridge, Spain

Structural Engineering International, 1994
The paper presents a combined method for measuring the forces in the cables of cable-stayed bridges based on measuring the natural frequencies of the cables in a free-damped vibration and subsequen...

Accurate cable force determination using ambient vibration measurements

Structure and Infrastructure Engineering, 2006
Knowledge of the tensile forces in cables of bridges or in external tendons is required for regular inspection and safety assessments. Force determination by lift-off tests with hydraulic jacks can result in considerable expenditure as well as the danger of damage. However, alternatively conducted vibration measurements have shown that, due to improper

Modeling and development of tension force measurement system for cable-driven hand exoskeleton robot

2015 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM), 2015
With rapidly growing of aged and disabled population, insufficiency of medical care for those impaired patients, such as shortage of physical therapist has drawn much attention recently. The aim of this paper is devoted to investigation of how tension force in a cable-driven hand exoskeleton robot varies with different engagement of exoskeleton motion ...

Estimation of Cable Forces of a Guyed Mast from Dynamic Measurements

1998
This paper presents how the tension forces in the cables of a 200 m. high guyed mast have been estimated from natural frequencies obtained from acceleration measurements. The mast is guyed at five levels with three guys at 120 degree intervals at each level. The accelerations in three directions were measured in five cables.
