An Unifying Replacement Approach for Caching Systems
A cache replacement algorithm called probability based replacement (PBR) is proposed in this paper. The algorithm makes replacement decision based on the byte accessprobabilities of documents.

Reinforcement Learning-Based Cache Replacement Policies for Multicore Processors
High-performance computing (HPC) systems need to handle ever-increasing data sizes for fast processing and quick response times. However, modern processors’ caches are unable to handle massive amounts of data, leading to significant cache miss ...

Register‐Efficient Linear‐Time Evaluation in the Bernstein Basis
Abstract We investigate the evaluation of points and derivatives of Bézier curves and surfaces on modern architectures, focusing on performance and guided by numerical error bounds. While the de Casteljau algorithm remains the reference for numerical robustness, its linear working‐set size imposes substantial register pressure on GPUs.

Edge Caching Strategies for Seamless Handover in SDN-Enabled Connected Cars
This paper presents an analytical evaluation of three strategies designed to minimize service disruption during handovers in Software-Defined Networking (SDN)-based connected car networks: SDN Mobility with a Caching Policy, cache-miss Content Delivery ...

OPTIMAL DATA REPLACEMENT TECHNIQUE FOR COOPERATIVE CACHING IN MANET [PDF]
A cooperative caching approach improves data accessibility and reduces query latency in Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET). Maintaining the cache is challenging issue in large MANET due to mobility, cache size and power. The previous research works on caching

NAADF: Globally Illuminated Voxel Worlds Accelerated with Nested Axis‐Aligned Distance Fields
Abstract Achieving realistic rendering of 3D scenes in real time using path tracing is challenging due to the high sample count required, with ray tracing as the bottleneck. Focusing on voxels as a geometry representation offers significant opportunities for optimizations, especially for tracing the rays, but also for computing the samples.

Do carbon prices affect stock prices?
Abstract We explore how carbon pricing affects corporate financial performance during Phase 3 of the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS). We find that the relationship between carbon prices and stock prices depends critically on the proportion of verified emissions covered by freely allocated ETS allowances: For firms with a greater ...

Heterogeneity in Manufacturing Growth Risk
Abstract We analyze differences in output growth risk with respect to financial conditions across U.S. manufacturing industries. Using a multilevel quantile regression approach, we find that industries exhibit heterogeneous increases of downside risk in times of tight financial conditions, while upside potential remains stable.

Abstract Reproducibility is essential for scientific software but can be hindered by technical and maintenance challenges. As part of the Global Bioimage Analyst Society reproducibility initiative, we evaluated Dextrusion, a deep learning pipeline for detecting epithelial cell extrusion events published by Villars et al.

Bridging data silos to holistically model plant macrophenology
Summary Phenological response to global climate change can impact ecosystem functions. There are various data sources from which spatiotemporal and taxonomic phenological data may be obtained: mobilized herbaria, community science initiatives, observatory networks, and remote sensing.
