Acamprosate reduces ethanol intake in the rat by a combined action of different drug components

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Alcohol misuse accounts for a sizeable proportion of the global burden of disease, and Campral® (acamprosate; calcium-bis-(N-acetylhomotaurinate)) is widely used as relapse prevention therapy.

The Activity of CaO in the CaO-CaCl2 and CaO-CaCl2-CaF2 Systems.

open access: yesISIJ International, 1995
To clarify the refining ability of the CaO-CaCl2-CaF2 systems and the effect of replacement of CaF2 with CaCl2 on the CaO activity, the activities of CaO in the CaO-CaCl2 and CaO-CaCl2-CaF2 systems were measured at 1673 K by empolying a chemical equilibration technique.

Densities for Ternary System of CaCl2–H2O–CO2 at Elevated P-T: An Experimental and Modeling Approach

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
Very few thermodynamic models exist for estimation of density alteration due to solution of CO2 in a pure H2O and CaCl2–H2O system. All of these models require density of CaCl2 solution to estimate density of CaCl2–H2O–CO2 system ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Physiological changes of microalga Dunaliella parva under the treatment of PEG, CaCl2.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
Carotenoids are antioxidants, which reduce various chronic diseases of human, and have many industrial applications. The halophilic Dunaliella parva (D. parva) is rich in carotenoids. The compounds CaCl2 and PEG are the popular metabolic enhancers.

Differential Effects of Buffer pH On Ca\u3csup\u3e2+\u3c/sup\u3e-Induced ROS Emission with Inhibited Mitochondrial Complexes I and III [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Excessive mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) emission is a critical component in the etiology of ischemic injury. Complex I and complex III of the electron transport chain are considered the primary sources of ROS emission during cardiac ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
