Complex of primary and secondary parasitoids (Hymenoptera: Encyrtidae and Signiphoridae) of Hypogeococcus spp. Mealybugs (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) in the New World [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018

Experimental Investigation on the Heat Dissipation and Postfire Structural Performance of a Reinforced Concrete Column with Biomimicked Geometry

open access: yesFire, 2022
Cactus plants are prevalent in hot terrain locations. The spines in the cactus plants have an important function in preventing water evaporation. The strong pointed spines serve to distribute heat and prevent internal moisture loss owing to high heat ...

From Physics Model to Results: An Optimizing Framework for Cross-Architecture Code Generation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Starting from a high-level problem description in terms of partial differential equations using abstract tensor notation, the Chemora framework discretizes, optimizes, and generates complete high performance codes for a wide range of compute ...

More on Sombor Index of Graphs

open access: yesMathematics, 2022
Recently, a novel degree-based molecular structure descriptor, called Sombor index was introduced. Let G=(V(G),E(G)) be a graph. Then, the Sombor index of G is defined as SO(G)=∑uv∈E(G)dG2(u)+dG2(v). In this paper, we give some lemmas that can be used to

The Physiological Effect of a Holoparasite Over a Cactus Along an Environmental Gradient

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2021
Echinopsis chiloensis is an endemic cactus from Chile, distributed in a temperature and rainfall gradient between 30° and 35° South latitude, with mean temperatures increasing and precipitation decreasing toward the north.

Leclercia adecarboxylata Bacteremia in a Patient with Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesCase Reports in Gastrointestinal Medicine, 2014
Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) are a high risk population for bacteremia. Derangement in the mucosal architecture of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and frequent endoscopic interventions in immunocompromised individuals are considered ...

Behavioral Responses to Body Position in Bees: The Interaction of Apis mellifera and Lithurgus littoralis in Prickly Pear Flowers

open access: yesInsects, 2022
The behavior of bees is modulated by the presence of other bees and potentially by the visual information transmitted by the different body positions of bees while visiting flowers.

Cactus doodles

open access: yesBoletín de la Sociedad Matemática Mexicana
Abstract Cactus doodles are combinatorial/geometric objects that are related to cactus groups in the same way as knots are related to braids. We define them in terms of local moves on plane curves, show that they can be obtained from elements of the cactus group by a “closing” procedure and establish some of their basic properties.

Dark Matter and the CACTUS Gamma-Ray Excess from Draco [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The CACTUS atmospheric Cherenkov telescope collaboration recently reported a gamma-ray excess from the Draco dwarf spheroidal galaxy. Draco features a very low gas content and a large mass-to-light ratio, suggesting as a possible explanation annihilation

Gamma rays from dark matter annihilation in the Draco and observability at ARGO

open access: yes, 2006
The CACTUS experiment recently observed a gamma ray excess above 50 GeV from the direction of the Draco dwarf spheroidal galaxy. Considering that Draco is dark matter dominated the gamma rays may be generated through dark matter annihilation in the Draco
