Real-time computer aided colonoscopy versus standard colonoscopy for improving adenoma detection rate: A meta-analysis of randomized-controlled trials

open access: yesEClinicalMedicine, 2020
Background: Recent prospective randomized controlled trials have evaluated deep convolutional neural network (CNN) based computer aided detection (CADe) of lesions in real-time colonoscopy. We conducted this meta-analysis to compare the adenoma detection

Adaptation to harshness is fundamentally different from the adaptive stress response: Results from a 20‐year‐long case study in African striped mice

open access: yesJournal of Zoology, EarlyView.
Animals in harsh environments rely on specialised adaptations. Two decades of field research on African striped mice (Rhabdomys pumilio) in the Succulent Karoo semi‐desert reveal a distinct ‘harshness response’—marked by reduced metabolism and glucocorticoid levels—that differs fundamentally from the classic stress response.

Diets, Fruit and Vegetable Intake and Nutritional Status Among Children, Adolescents and Adults in the Philippines: A Scoping Review

open access: yesMaternal &Child Nutrition, EarlyView.
Across all population and sociodemographic groups in the Philippines, diets lacked diversity and intakes of fruit and vegetables were low. Under‐ and overnutrition are persisting challenges. Rigorous evidence from interventions to improve diet quality and fruit and vegetable intake in the Philippines is urgently needed.

A práxis antitruste no Brasil: uma análise do CADE no período 1994-2004 The antitrust policy in Brazil: an analysis of CADE (1994-2004)

open access: yesEconomia e Sociedade, 2007
A política de defesa da concorrência é construída através das decisões dos órgãos antitruste nacionais que, no caso brasileiro, são proferidas pelo CADE. Avaliar as decisões do CADE é, portanto, avaliar a defesa da concorrência no Brasil.

Divergent Phosphorus‐Mining Strategies in Simple and Compound Cluster Roots in Extremely Phosphorus‐Impoverished Soils in Southwest Australia

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Most Proteaceae and some Fabaceae species produce specialised cluster roots (CRs), and are abundant in severely phosphorus (P)‐impoverished soils in southwest Australia. Two types of CRs, compound and simple, have been identified. However, the difference in their P‐mining strategies remains unclear. Therefore, we conducted glasshouse and field

Affective attention under cognitive load: reduced emotional biases but emergent anxiety-related costs to inhibitory control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Trait anxiety is associated with deficits in attentional control, particularly in the ability to inhibit prepotent responses. Here, we investigated this effect while varying the level of cognitive load in a modified antisaccade task that employed ...

Machine Learning Model for an App‐Based Tool to Assist With the Diagnosis of Canine Atopic Dermatitis

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, EarlyView.
Canine atopic dermatitis (cAD) is a chronic condition requiring life‐long management. Accurate diagnosis can be challenging, with no reliable diagnostic test. This study aimed to generate a simple diagnostic model for cAD. This model is a relevant prototype for an app‐based tool to support general practitioners in the diagnosis of cAD alongside ...
