Calcifying Epithelial Odontogenic Tumor
1986History. Until 1958 this tumor was classified both as an ameloblastoma and as an odontoma. Following a brief initial description in 1955, Pindborg described the calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor more accurately in 1958 (Pindborg 1955a, b, 1958); since then the term “Pindborg’s tumor” has also been in use.

Cystic variant of calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor
Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, and Endodontology, 2006Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor (CEOT) is a benign, locally aggressive odontogenic neoplasm characterized by sheets and nests of epithelial cells with deeply eosinophilic or occasionally clear cytoplasm, calcifications, and eosinophilic amorphous material that stains positive for amyloid. Calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumors:
Journal of Oral Pathology & Medicine, 1982Nine cases of CEOT are reported. There are seven intra‐osseous and two extra‐osseous tumors. All but one occurred in the mandible. The age range was 20 to 64 years; averaging 34.2 years. There were 7 females and 2 males. Radiographically, they appeared either as monocystic or polycystic translucent lesions with radiopaque spots or masses.

Atypical Calcifying Epithelial Odontogenic Tumor of the Maxilla
The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1980A case of atypical calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor is reported to show that many different lesions can cause periapical radiolucent areas and to contribute to the expanding histologic spectrum of the calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor. Methods used in differential diagnosis of radiolucent lesions in the jaws include: comprehensive history,

Cystic variant of calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor
Journal of Investigative and Clinical Dentistry, 2011AbstractThe calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor is a rare benign odontogenic neoplasm of the jaw. Clinically, calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor manifests as an intraosseous lesion (central type) in the majority of cases (95%). Extraosseous or peripheral lesions account for less than 5% of cases.

Extraosseous calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor (Pindborg tumor)
International Journal of Oral Surgery, 1977A 20-year-old man presented with a painless enlargement of the maxillary gingiva with no bone involvement. Microscopic examination with special stains confirmed the diagnosis of a clear cell variant of a calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumor (Pindborg tumor). This is the second reported case of such a variant in an extraosseous location.
