Capsaicin-Induced Ca2+ Influx and Constriction of the Middle Meningeal Artery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Research in the past on transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 1 (TRPV1) has been limited to mainly nervous tissue TRPV1 because of the channel’s role in pain perception.

The OSCAR for cardiovascular disease prevention in chronic kidney disease goes to blood pressure control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Nephropathy progression is slowed and cardiovascular events reduced in patients with stage 3 or higher chronic kidney disease when blood pressure is controlled using combinations of renin–angiotensin system (RAS) blockers with dihydropyridine calcium ...

Targeting Ion Channels: Blockers Suppress Calcium Signals and Induce Cytotoxicity Across Medulloblastoma Cell Models

open access: yesBioengineering
Medulloblastoma (MB) groups 3 and 4 lack targeted therapies despite their dismal prognoses. Ion channels and pumps have been implicated in promoting MB metastasis and growth; however, their roles remain poorly understood. In this study, we repurposed FDA-

Data and calculus on isobolographic analysis to determine the antinociceptive interaction between calcium channel blocker and a TRPV1 blocker in acute pain model in mice

open access: yesData in Brief, 2017
Determining antinociceptive interaction between Phα1β toxin (a voltage gated calcium channel blocker) and SB366791 (selective TRPV1 antagonist) may have both clinical and mechanistic implications for the pain management.

Investigation of the Effects of Calcıum Channel Blockers with Cigarette Smoke Exposure to Nerve Healing at Peripheral Nerve Injuries

open access: yesGenel Tıp Dergisi, 2022
Objective: A study was planned to investigate the effect of exposure to cigarette smoke and the effects of calcium channel blockers in experimentally induced sciatic nerve injuries. Material-Method: The sciatic nerve was cut on one side in all the groups,

Multiplex single‐cell profiling of putative cancer stem cell markers ALDH1, SOX9, SOX2, CD44, CD133 and CD15 in endometrial cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer stem cells are associated with aggressive disease, but a deep characterization of such markers is lacking in endometrial cancer. This study uses imaging mass cytometry to explore putative cancer stem cell markers in endometrial tumors and corresponding organoid models.

TOMM20 as a driver of cancer aggressiveness via oxidative phosphorylation, maintenance of a reduced state, and resistance to apoptosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TOMM20 increases cancer aggressiveness by maintaining a reduced state with increased NADH and NADPH levels, oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS), and apoptosis resistance while reducing reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Conversely, CRISPR‐Cas9 knockdown of TOMM20 alters these cancer‐aggressive traits.

Which combination drug therapies are most effective for hypertension? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Insufficient evidence exists to determine which specific combinations most effectively decrease cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, although combinations of hypertension medications at lower doses generally reduce cardiovascular outcomes (stroke ...

Developmental Regulation of Small-Conductance Ca²⁺-Activated K⁺ Channel Expression and Function in Rat Purkinje Neurons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Calcium transients play an important role in the early and later phases of differentiation and maturation of single neurons and neuronal networks. Small-conductance calcium-activated potassium channels of the SK type modulate membrane excitability and ...

Influence of angiotensin II receptor blocker combination tablet prescription on drug number and cost

open access: yesSAGE Open Medicine, 2014
Objectives: Combination therapy using an angiotensin II receptor blocker is expected to promote medication adherence and alleviate economic burden among patients by reducing the number of drugs taken, and thereby to lower associated medical costs. In the
