Self‐Feeding of Engineered Tissues via Controlled Glucose Release Facilitates Survival and Vascularization of Living Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Engineering living matter has great clinical potential to deliver functional replacement organs. However, clinical translation remains hampered by the current inability to maintain viability of clinically relevant‐sized constructs. During the pre‐vascular phase, implants rely on nutrient diffusion for survival, which is insufficient at ...

Calcium Channel Blockers

Journal of Pharmacy Practice, 1990
Calcium is an integral component in numerous physiological processes and functions. As such, drugs that interfere with the movement of calcium into or out of cells, or the activity of intracellular calcium are useful in treating a variety of disease states.

Calcium channel blocker toxicity

Annals of Emergency Medicine, 1990
A retrospective review was conducted of all patients who were reported to a regional poison control center after "overdose" of a calcium channel blocker during a two-year period (1987 and 1988). An analysis of 91 patient cases is presented after excluding allergic reactions, cases involving coingestants, and patients lost to follow-up.

Calcium Channel Blocker Toxicity

Pediatric Emergency Care, 2009
Calcium channel blockers continue to be used for the management of a wide variety of adult and pediatric conditions including hypertension, angina pectoris, atrial arrhythmias, Raynaud phenomenon, and migraine headaches. With increased use comes increased potential for misuse and abuse.

Calcium channel blocker overdose

The American Journal of Emergency Medicine, 1995
A case of diltiazem overdose with significant hemodynamic compromise is presented. Multiple therapeutic modalities were attempted with limited results. Control was finally achieved with a combination of norepinephrine, dobutamine, and cardiac pacing.

Calcium channel blockers

Postgraduate Medicine, 1997
Although the calcium channel blockers have been used to treat hypertension for a number of years, they are now under close scrutiny because of disturbing findings regarding their safety. Drs Kochar and Qurashi sort out the controversies surrounding these widely used drugs and make recommendations based on current consensus.

Calcium Channel Blockers

AACN Advanced Critical Care, 1992
Calcium channel blockers are widely used in the treatment of ischemic heart disease, hypertension, and supraventricular tachycardia. The prototype agents, verapamil, nifedipine, and diltiazem, represent three classes of calcium channel blockers, each of which has different pharmacologic effects.
