Drought Risk in Mango and Avocado Orchards: Insights Into Plant Water Relations and Irrigation‐Related Agronomic Solutions

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, Volume 75, Issue 4, Page 1738-1763, Otober 2026.
ABSTRACT Climate change is making water availability more uncertain, with growing consequences for the productivity and long‐term sustainability of tropical and subtropical fruit orchards. Mangifera indica L. and Persea americana Mill. both require large amounts of water to sustain growth and productivity.

β‐Cyclodextrin Immobilized in Geophagic Clay Sheets for the Absorption of Dyes From Wastewater Using a Fixed‐Bed Method

open access: yesWater Environment Research, Volume 98, Issue 10, October 2026.
β‐Cyclodextrin‐functionalized geophagic clay was applied in a fixed‐bed column for the removal of rhodamine B (RhB) and methyl orange (MO). RhB interacts via electrostatic attraction and hydrogen bonding, while MO undergoes cavity inclusion complexation and hydrogen bonding within the βCD structure.

Experimental Shock Metamorphism of Zircon, Apatite, and Whitlockite From 5 to 40 GPa

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 131, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Hypervelocity impacts modify planetary crusts and can alter the microstructures of key minerals used to reconstruct planetary histories. We investigated the potential effects of impacts on three common accessory minerals found in terrestrial crusts by experimentally shocking zircon, apatite, and whitlockite at 5, 10, 20, and 40 GPa.

Direct Flux Measurements Reveal CO2 Sinks in Icelandic Glacial Streams Driven by Weathering and Hydrological Mixing

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Biogeosciences, Volume 131, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Glacier‐fed rivers are increasingly recognized as important components of high‐latitude carbon cycling, yet direct observations of CO2 exchange in proglacial streams remain limited, especially in young basaltic catchments. Here, we quantify spatial and seasonal patterns of CO2 exchange along a 3‐km reach of the glacier‐fed stream Virkisá ...

The Material Basis of 18th‐Century Meissen Porcelain

open access: yesArchaeometry, Volume 68, Issue 5, Page 908-918, October 2026.
ABSTRACT In the summer of 1708, the quest for making hard‐paste porcelain from Saxonian clay and other mineral resources succeeded. This was achieved by applying as its essential ingredient newly discovered pure kaolin from Heidelsberg near Aue, western Saxon Ore Mountains.
