Plankton do not care: Minimal effects of ocean liming on plankton growth and grazing in the Eastern Mediterranean

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract Increasing CO2 emissions have led to the development of CO2 removal strategies to counteract ocean acidification. Among these, ocean alkalinity enhancement techniques, particularly ocean liming, may represent a promising approach to restore seawater pH and boost CO2 sequestration.

Contact‐dependent iron uptake from dust revealed by elemental analysis of single Trichodesmium colonies

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract Aerosol dust deposited on the nutrient‐deprived surface ocean can boost phytoplankton growth and oceanic carbon uptake. Low mineral solubility restricts the biological utilization of dust‐nutrients, thereby benefiting phytoplankton that actively dissolve dust.

The Role of Trisodium Phosphate as a Corrosion Inhibitor for Gray Cast Iron in Automotive Braking Systems: Mechanisms and Challenges

open access: yesMaterials and Corrosion, EarlyView.
Trisodium phosphate is selected for its availability and solubility to assess its effect on gray cast iron corrosion in automotive braking systems. The investigation is conducted in acidic and slightly alkaline chloride media to replicate conditions at the disc–friction material interface. In acidic media, it behaves as a mixed‐type inhibitor.
