Controlled growth and ordering of poorly-crystalline calcium-silicate-hydrate nanosheets
Calcium-silicate-hydrate is the main component of cement, and controlling its structure is vital to its properties. Here, graphene oxide is used to constrain the growth and optimize the assembly of calcium-silicate-hydrate, substantially improving its ...

This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Alleviating aluminum toxicity in an acid sulfate soil from Peninsular Malaysia by calcium silicate application [PDF]
In response to human population increase, the utilization of acid sulfate soils for rice cultivation is one option for increasing production. The main problems associated with such soils are their low pH values and their associated high content of ...

Calcium Silicates as Lime Substitute
An experimental study has been carried out of the removal of iron from solutions of ferric chloride by lime, β-dicalcium silicate (C2S) and α-monocalcium silicate (CS) and of the treatment of the resulting sludge. C2S promoted the flocculation of iron precipitates to achieve higher settling, thickening and dewatering rates.

High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Compatibility studies of N-A-S-H and C-A-S-H Gels in Alkali-Activated Geopolymer Mortar [PDF]
The primary reaction products in the alkali-activated green tuff alumino-silicate geopolymer mortar are Natrium (sodium) Aluminum-Silicate Hydrate (N-A-S-H) and Calcium Aluminum-Silicate Hydrate (C-A-S-H) gels.

The thermal diffusivity of MgO‐C refractories is highly sensitive to sample preparation and processing procedures. In this article, the effects of coking sequence, machining conditions, structural inhomogeneity, and graphite coating application on measurements using laser flash apparatus are systematically investigated.
