Comparative study on indoor fungi growth incorporated with different antifungal and wall finishings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Indoor air quality is important to the health and comfort of building occupants. There are many sources of pollutants that can be found in the building. One of the sources of pollutants is fungus. Fungi are present almost everywhere in indoor and outdoor

Cytoplasmic p21 promotes stemness of colon cancer cells via activation of the NFκB pathway

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytoplasmic p21 promotes colorectal cancer stem cell (CSC) features by destabilizing the NFκB–IκB complex, activating NFκB signaling, and upregulating BCL‐xL and COX2. In contrast to nuclear p21, cytoplasmic p21 enhances spheroid formation and stemness transcription factor CD133.

Calcium electroporation induces tumor eradication, long-lasting immunity and cytokine responses in the CT26 colon cancer mouse model

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2017
Electroporation is used in cancer treatment because of its ability to increase local cytotoxicity of e.g. bleomycin (electrochemotherapy) and calcium (calcium electroporation).

Dual targeting of RET and SRC synergizes in RET fusion‐positive cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Despite the strong activity of selective RET tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), resistance of RET fusion‐positive (RET+) lung cancer and thyroid cancer frequently occurs and is mainly driven by RET‐independent bypass mechanisms. Son et al. show that SRC TKIs significantly inhibit PAK and AKT survival signaling and enhance the efficacy of RET TKIs in ...

Transcriptomic and Functional Insights of Calcium Suppresses Grape Berry Cracking: Antioxidant Activation, ABA Pathway Modulation, and VITPL1-Mediated Cell Wall Stability

open access: yesInternational Journal of Fruit Science
Calcium treatments are effective in reducing grapevine berry cracking. However, the underlying mechanism of calcium on grapevine berry cracking is not well-known. This work aims to explore the potential molecular mechanism of calcium treatment regulating

Methylation biomarkers can distinguish pleural mesothelioma from healthy pleura and other pleural pathologies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a DNA methylation–based biomarker panel to distinguish pleural mesothelioma from other pleural conditions. Using the IMPRESS technology, we translated this panel into a clinically applicable assay. The resulting two classifier models demonstrated excellent performance, achieving high AUC values and strong diagnostic accuracy.

Effect of calcium glucoheptonate on proliferation and osteogenesis of osteoblast-like cells in vitro.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Calcium is the key macromineral having a role in skeletal structure and function, muscle contraction, and neurotransmission. Bone remodeling is maintained through a constant balance between calcium resorption and deposition.
