This chapter is very much like the graph example two chapters back — a later section contains a code listing, and this one describes some of the new features1 of the system used in the code. This program is derived from a program originally written by Dan Weinreb, and rewritten for Genera 7.0 by Mike McMahon.

Asymptotic power calculations: description, examples, computer code
Statistics in Medicine, 1999This paper describes two asymptotic methods for sample size and power calculation for hypothesis testing. Both methods assume that the distribution of the likelihood ratio is approximately distributed as a central chi(2) distribution under the null hypothesis and as a non-central chi(2) under the alternative hypothesis.

Examples for Calculating Path Integrals
1992We now want to compute the kernel K(b, a) for a few simple Lagrangians. We have already found for the one-dimensional case that $$\displaystyle{ K{\bigl (x_{2},t_{2};x_{1},t_{1}\bigr )} =\int _{ x(t_{1})=x_{1}}^{x(t_{2})=x_{2} }[dx(t)]\,\text{e}^{(\mathrm{i}/\hslash )S} }$$ (19.1) with $$\displaystyle{ S =\int _{ t_{1}}^{t_{2} }dt\,L(x ...

Calculations with Relations, an Example
1990Predicate transformer semantics (PTS) has proved to be very fruitful, in particular for program derivation. It is well known, although not very well documented, that the version of PTS with universal conjunctivity for wlp and without the law of the excluded miracle is equivalent to some relation semantics (RS).

Abstract The use and proliferation of brushless permanent-magnet motors over the past ten years or so has been largely application-specific without any standardization. For example, the motors used in computer hard disc storage drives have been designed to keep pace with developments in the disc drive.
