Influence of nuclear data uncertainties on reactor core calculations

Kerntechnik, 2011
Abstract To investigate the influence of nuclear data uncertainties on reactor core calculations systematically, the sampling based uncertainty and sensitivity software package SUSA developed at GRS was extended for the use with nuclear covariance data.

Uncertainty in the Nuclear Data Used for Reactor Calculations

1982
Part of the uncertainty in the computed value of a nuclear system parameter originates in the uncertainties in the differential nuclear data used in the calculation. The effects of these uncertainties cannot be fully circumvented by comparing computed results against those from integral experiments.

ƒ-Calculation in heterogeneous nuclear reactors by matrix formalism

Journal of Nuclear Energy (1954), 1954
Abstract Using ordinary diffusion theory, the present work gives a universal method for calculating the thermal utilization factor ƒ of a heterogeneous reactor with an elementary cell that contains an arbitrary number of concentric cylindrical shells. Approximations for the exact matrix elements reduce the computation work considerably.

Calculation of weak self-oscillatory conditions in nuclear reactors

Soviet Atomic Energy, 1965
A method for the approximate calculation of the parameters of self-oscillatory conditions in nuclear reactors with small power oscillation amplitudes is presented. An equation is derived, which, within the framework of the assumptions made, can be used fo r determining the frequencies of the reactor's possible self-oscillatory states as well as the ...

Calculation of weak self-oscillation regimes in nuclear reactors

Journal of Nuclear Energy. Parts A/B. Reactor Science and Technology, 1966
Abstract A procedure is given for making an approximate calculation of the parameters associated with self-oscillation regimes of nuclear reactors when the amplitude of the power oscillations is small. An equation is obtained which, within the framework of the approximations made, permits one to determine the frequencies of the possible self ...

The Metastatic Method in Nuclear Reactor Core Kinetics Calculations

Nuclear Science and Engineering, 1969
A quasi-static method is proposed for evaluating spatial effects on nuclear reactor kinetics. The neutron flux shape is calculated approximately as an asymptotic solution of the two-group space-tim...

On the calculation of nuclear reactor disturbances by the Monte Carlo method

USSR Computational Mathematics and Mathematical Physics, 1966
Abstract THE universality of the Monte Carlo method enables us to use for nuclear reactor disturbances the general formula for small disturbances first obtained in [1]. The neutron fission importance function f ∗ (x) required for the calculations is defined in phase space X of coordinates r and velocities v and satisfies the ...
