Evolution of tuff ring-dome complex: the case study of Cerro Pinto, eastern Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Cerro Pinto is a Pleistocene rhyolite tuff ring-dome complex located in the eastern Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt. The complex is composed of four tuff rings and four domes that were emplaced in three eruptive stages marked by changes in vent location and ...

Forensic Profiling Analogue Approach for the Investigation of Natural Hazards – A Case Study from Onokoba Elementary School, Unzen Volcano, Japan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Internal temperature variations of pyroclastic flows and their deposits are arguably the most challenging data to acquire. As a preliminary study of the temperature variation inside pyroclastic flows, the remains of Onokoba Elementary School (Shimabara ...

Hydrothermal Signatures Discovered in Outcropping Rocks of the Los Humeros Geothermal Field (Mexico): A Geochemometric Exploration Case Study

open access: yesGeofluids, Volume 2024, Issue 1, 2024.
Hydrothermal geochemical signatures in outcropping rock samples of the super‐hot Los Humeros geothermal field were discovered by using an integrated geochemometric study of the mobility of components (major oxides) and trace elements. Chemical component and element mobilities were determined by using the Gresens–Grant equation for mass balances.

Caldera collapse and tectonics along the Main Ethiopian Rift: Reviewing possible relationships [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
The Main Ethiopian Rift (MER) represents an area where volcanism and tectonics interact to create closely linked volcano-tectonic features. This linkage is paramount in the axial portion of the rift, where magmatic segments localize several large ...

Thermodynamic state updated of the volcanic caldera and geothermal reservoir of Los Humeros, Puebla, Mexico

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2008
Based on information of enthalpies of the fluids of wells from the geothermal reservoir of Los Humeros, Puebla, Mexico, we determined the thermodynamic conditions of the reservoir comparing the values of enthalpies of the fluids of discharge of the wells with the values published in the literature for different thermodynamic state of fluids.

Evidence for fracture-hosted fluid-rock reactions within geothermal reservoirs of the eastern trans-Mexico volcanic belt [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Fractures within hydrothermal systems represent major pathways for fluid flow, and it is therefore vital that we understand processes occurring along them as these may have an impact on productivity of hot fluids during geothermal exploitation. This is

Generation of high-silica rhyolite: A Nd, Sr, and O isotopic study of Sierra La Primavera, Mexican Neovolcanic Belt [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
High-silica rhyolites of the Sierra La Primavera, a late Pleistocene center near Guadalajara, are extremely Sr-poor (0.3–1.3 ppm), yet (with one exception) values of 87 Sr/ 86 Sr i are relatively low at 0.7041–0.7048. Values of 143 Nd/ 144 Nd for all the

A fracture flow permeability and stress dependency simulation applied to multi-reservoirs, multi-production scenarios analysis

open access: yesGeothermal Energy, 2019
The use of the subsurface and the exploitation of subsurface resources require prior knowledge of fluid flow through fracture networks. For nuclear waste disposal, for the enhancement of hydrocarbon recovery from a field, or the development of an ...
