Calibration of Neural Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Neural networks solving real-world problems are often required not only to make accurate predictions but also to provide a confidence level in the forecast. The calibration of a model indicates how close the estimated confidence is to the true probability. This paper presents a survey of confidence calibration problems in the context of neural networks

The Herschel PACS photometer calibration - A time dependent flux calibration for the PACS chopped point-source photometry AOT mode

open access: yes, 2013
We present a flux calibration scheme for the PACS chopped point-source photometry observing mode based on the photometry of five stellar standard sources. This mode was used for science observations only early in the mission.

Profiling the effect of low frequency mechanical vibration on the metabolic and oxidative stress responses of A431 carcinoma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
20 Hz mechanical vibration induced A431 cancer cells' apoptosis without such effect on other healthy cell lines of L929 and C2C12. Lowered glucose consumption is observed specifically in A431. The expressions of ROS, HMGB1, and HSP1 levels initially increase and subsequently decrease in the cancer cell line, as opposed to L929 and C2C12, which ...

Space temperature traceability based on near-site transfer of miniature fixed points

open access: yesCommunications Engineering
Long-term remote sensing precision depends on real-time radiation calibration, challenging the stability and accuracy of spaceborne calibrators in harsh space environments.

Radio Interferometric Calibration Using a Riemannian Manifold

open access: yes, 2013
In order to cope with the increased data volumes generated by modern radio interferometers such as LOFAR (Low Frequency Array) or SKA (Square Kilometre Array), fast and efficient calibration algorithms are essential.

GDP‐fucose transporter SLC35C1: a potential regulatory role in cytosolic GDP‐fucose and fucosylated glycan synthesis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The inactivation of SLC35C1 (GDP‐fucose transporter) and enzymes involved in GDP‐fucose biosynthesis was studied. Fucose supplementation increases the level of GDP‐fucose to abnormal, millimolar values in the absence of the TSTA3 protein and SLC35C1 in contrast to the GMDS/SLC35C1 double mutant.

Study of the Application of FY-3D/MERSI-II Far-Infrared Data in Wildfire Monitoring

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
In general, the far-infrared channel in the wavelength range of 10.5–12.0 µm plays an auxiliary role in wildfire detection as its sensitivity to high-temperature targets is far lower than the mid-infrared channel in the wavelength range of 3.5–4.0 µm at ...

OpenCalib: A Multi-sensor Calibration Toolbox for Autonomous Driving [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Accurate sensor calibration is a prerequisite for multi-sensor perception and localization systems for autonomous vehicles. The intrinsic parameter calibration of the sensor is to obtain the mapping relationship inside the sensor, and the extrinsic parameter calibration is to transform two or more sensors into a unified spatial coordinate system.

AdS calibrations

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1999
We present a new bound for the worldvolume actions of branes with a Wess-Zumino term. For this we introduce a generalization of calibrations for which the calibration form is not closed. We then apply our construction to find the M-5-brane worldvolume solitons in an AdS background that saturate this bound.
