On-Wafer Calibration Algorithm for Partially Leaky Multiport Vector Network Analyzers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A new solution for multiport vector network analyzer calibration is presented in this paper. The error model is divided in two separate leaky halves, each of them with crosstalk terms, but without the leakage between the two sides.

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.

Research And Experimental Verification of Absolute Measurement Facility Parameters for Radionuclide Neutron Source Emission Rate

open access: yesJournal of Isotopes
The manganese bath method is a commonly used method for determining neutron source emission rate. The Monte Carlo method (MCNP) was used to calculate the influence of main parameters such as bath radius,MnSO4 solution density, and measurement chamber ...

ShCal04 Southern Hemisphere Calibration, 0–11.0 Cal Kyr BP

open access: yes, 2004
Recent measurements on dendrochronologically-dated wood from the Southern Hemisphere have shown that there are differences between the structural form of the radiocarbon calibration curves from each hemisphere.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Tracked Wall-Climbing Robot for Calibration of Large Vertical Metal Tanks

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Large vertical metal tanks are the primary vessels for the storage and turnover of crude oil, and the accuracy of their capacity calibrations are of great significance. The optical reference line method (ORLM) is used for capacity calibration and is time-

Combined 5‐aminolevulinic acid and ferric ammonium citrate treatment promotes hair follicle growth by activating dermal papilla cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

A Traveling Standard for the Calibration of Data Acquisition Boards [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The large use of measurement systems based on data acquisition boards makes the traceability-chain assurance a tricky problem due to the difficulty in consistently calibrating such boards.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.
