On the Handoff-Call Blocking Probability Calculation in W-CDMA Cellular Networks

2008 Fourth Advanced International Conference on Telecommunications, 2008
In this paper, we investigate the call blocking probability calculations in the uplink of W-CDMA mobile cellular networks. In these networks, we distinguish two types of blocking, the new-call blocking, which concerns the initial call establishment request, and the handoffcall blocking, due to the users' mobility from one cell to the other.

Call Blocking Probability for Heterogeneous and Asymmetrical Traffics in a TD-CDMA System

IEEE Communications Letters, 2004
We develop a mathematical model to analyze call-level performance of radio channel allocation of TD-CDMA systems supporting multitype heterogeneous and asymmetrical traffic. The mathematical model has multidimensional operations using random vectors or matrices to deal with multiple types of traffic and asymmetrical up-and-down transmission directions ...

A new VoIP call admission control based on blocking probability calculation

2009 Fourth International Conference on Communications and Networking in China, 2009
We present a novel scalable call admission control for VoIP based on blocking probability calculation (BPC). Blocking probabilities were measured carrying VoIP for every router across the source-destination path. Ingress router selects the optimal path for the new request by calculating blocking probabilities across all source-destination paths.

A novel approach to call blocking probability evaluation in multiservice CDMA

open access: yesCanadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering 2004 (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37513), 2004
We present a novel approach to model the uplink air interface access mechanism in a CDMA network as a slotted random access system, and use it to calculate the soft blocking probability in a multiservice CDMA network. Simulation results show that our method is accurate.

Proportional fairness of call blocking probability

Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Interaction Sciences: Information Technology, Culture and Human, 2009
To guarantee proportional fairness (PF) is an important way to realize predictable and controllable service differentiation. In this paper, a proportional differentiation call admission control (CAC) algorithm, named PBS-PF, is proposed to guarantee the network services' PF in terms of call blocking probability (CBP).

On Call Blocking Probabilities and Resource Utilization in OFDM Wireless Networks

2018 11th International Symposium on Communication Systems, Networks & Digital Signal Processing (CSNDSP), 2018
In this paper we consider the downlink of an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based cell that accommodates Poisson arriving calls generated from different service-classes and having different traffic description parameters. The system is modelled as a multirate loss model.

Reducing handoff call blocking probability by hybrid channel allocation

Proceedings of the 2011 International Conference on Communication, Computing & Security - ICCCS '11, 2011
In cellular networks, handoff is the mechanism that transfers an on going call from the current cell to the next cell as the Mobile Unit (MU) moves through the coverage area of the cellular system. A handoff procedure results in a call termination in the current cell along with a call arrival in the destination cell.

Call Blocking Probability and Effective Throughput for Call Admission Control of CoMP Joint Transmission

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2016
Coordinated multipoint transmission (CoMP) with the joint transmission (JT) scheme is employed in cellular networks to improve data rate and cell-edge throughput and/or to increase system throughput. In CoMP-JT, since the user equipment (UE) is capable of receiving the desired signal from an adjacent cell, as well as from its serving cell, it can ...
