Call Blocking Probabilities in a Two-Link Loss Model with Restricted Accessibility

2019 15th International Conference on Telecommunications (ConTEL), 2019
In this paper we study the impact of restricted accessibility in a system of two parallel links that accommodates Poisson arriving calls from a single service-class. In a restricted accessibility system, a new call may be blocked even if available bandwidth units do exist at the time of its arrival.

Modeling the Behavior of IPTV Users with Application to Call Blocking Probability Analysis

PIK - Praxis der Informationsverarbeitung und Kommunikation, 2012
Abstract In traditional TV delivery systems, all the channels are pushed toward the subscribers. Therefore, user activities like channel switching have no effect on the provider network. Consequently, TV providers have felt no strong need to analyze and investigate the behavior of their subscribers.

Call Blocking Probabilities in Multi-Cluster C-RAN Supporting Poisson Traffic

2020 12th International Symposium on Communication Systems, Networks and Digital Signal Processing (CSNDSP), 2020
In this paper, a cloud radio access network (C-RAN) is considered where the remote radio heads (RRHs) are separated from the baseband units (BBUs). The RRHs are grouped in different clusters according to their capacity while the BBUs form a centralized pool of computational resource units.

Performance analysis of call blocking probability in LEO satellite networks

2008 International Conference on Information and Automation, 2008
In this paper, a geometrical analysis is proposed to analyse the performance of call blocking probability in low earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks. Call blocking probability is an important measure to analyse the performance of LEO satellite networks.

Call Blocking Probability and Packet Delay in Cognitive Radio Networks

2012 8th International Conference on Wireless Communications, Networking and Mobile Computing, 2012
In a cognitive radio network (CRN), an preempted secondary user (SU) is placed in a call level queue to wait for accessing another channel. If the availability of channels is transparent to SUs, packets will be generated during their waiting time and the performance of the CRN will be influenced by which way to handle these packets.

Blocking Probability Approximations and Bounds for Best-Effort Calls in an Integrated Service System

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2015
In this paper, we consider an integrated service system, providing multirate guaranteed services and homogeneous best-effort services. The total system capacity is shared by both service types, while the guaranteed service customers are treated as high priority and are allocated fixed data rate bandwidth units.

An Analytic Approach to Efficiently Computing Call Blocking Probabilities for Multiclass WDM Networks

IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, 2009
For all-optical WDM networks that provide multiple classes of service, we present a methodology for computing approximate blocking probabilities of dynamic routing and wavelength assignment policies. Each service class is characterized by its resource requirements (number of wavelengths needed for a call) and expected call holding time (or subscription

Distance Dependent Call Blocking Probability, and Area Erlang Efficiency of Cellular Networks

2012 IEEE 75th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC Spring), 2012
In this paper the capacity and coverage of a cellular network is analyzed in the perspective of Grade of Service (GoS) constraint. The cellular networks considered, unlike GSM systems, allocate variable radio resource sizes to users even for constant bit-rate (CBR) traffic. The Grade of Service is the call blocking probability.

Call Dropping and Blocking Probability of the Integrated Cellular Ad Hoc Relaying System

IEEE GLOBECOM 2008 - 2008 IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference, 2008
In this paper, we develop an analytical model based on Markov chains for studying the handoff performance of the Integrated Cellular Ad hoc Relaying (iCAR) system. We verify the analytical model via simulations. Then, based on the model, we analyze the call blocking and dropping probabilities of iCAR system with and without call admission control (CAC)

Call blocking probability for heterogeneous and asymmetrical traffics in a TD-CDMA system

2004 IEEE 59th Vehicular Technology Conference. VTC 2004-Spring (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37514), 2005
We develop a mathematical model to analyze the call-level performance of radio channel allocation of TD-CDMA systems supporting multi-type heterogeneous and asymmetrical traffic conditions. Our mathematical model uses multidimensional operations of random vectors or matrices to deal with multiple types of traffic and with both the up- and down ...
