NATURALLY-OCCURRING LEPTOSPIROSIS IN NORTHERN FUR SEALS (Callorhinus ursinus)

Journal of Wildlife Diseases, 1977
A 4-year study of Northern fur seal (Callorhinus ursinus) leptospirosis in the Bering Sea has shown that in newborn pups Leptospira pomona is associated with a multiple hemorrhage syndrome. Experience in the application of remote anesthesia in Callorhinus ursinus

The FASEB Journal, 2022
Marine mammals often become entangled in various objects of anthropogenic origin floating on the surface of the water. Plastic, polyethylene, synthetic packing straps, and fishing gear threaten marine mammals in the water and on land. The study was carried out on 29 specimens of Callorhinus ursinus.

Body Temperature in the Northern Fur Seal, Callorhinus ursinus

Journal of Mammalogy, 1956
Statistically significant samples of the body temperature of large wild mammals are ordinarily almost impossible to obtain. In the case of the northern (Alaska) fur seal, however, a sample of almost any desired size can be secured if one uses the animals involved in the annual commercial kill.
