Morphological Characteristics and Molecular Identification of Calonectria ilicicola Causing Soybean Red Crown Rot

open access: yesResearch in Plant Disease, 2006
The 18 isolates of soybean red crown rot pathogen(Calonectria ilicicola) were isolated from infected soybean plants showing chlorosis symptom and red perithecia sign in 2002 and 2003 season in Korea. The morphological characteristics of the typical isolate SC03-15, such as macroconidia and macrovesicles in anamorph as well as perithecia, asci and ...

Factors affecting red crown rot caused by Calonectria ilicicola in soybean cultivation

Journal of General Plant Pathology, 2020
Red crown rot caused by Calonectria ilicicola, a soil-borne fungus, is one of the main soybean diseases in Japan. In field surveys to understand the present status of the disease in Akita, Fukushima, Niigata, Toyama, and Nagano prefectures, survey data included the cultivation history and conditions as well as the disease ratings for each field.

Functional Plasticity, Redundancy, and Specificity of Lanosterol 14α-Demethylase in Regulating the Sensitivity to DMIs in Calonectria ilicicola

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry
Cytochrome P450 sterol 14α-demethylase (CYP51) is a key enzyme involved in the sterol biosynthesis pathway and serves as a target for sterol demethylation inhibitors (DMIs).

Cylindrocladium brown leaf spot on Howea belmoreana caused by Calonectria ilicicola (anamorph: Cylindrocladium parasiticum) in Japan

Journal of General Plant Pathology, 2007
Brown leaf spot disease caused by Cylindrocladium was found on Howea belmoreana on Hachijojima Island, Tokyo, Japan, in December 2001. Typical symptoms were incited after artificial inoculation. A culture of white mycelia, isolated from leaf spot symptoms, produced reddish perithecia of a nectriaceous fungus.

Phylogenetic diversity of Calonectria ilicicola causing Cylindrocladium black rot of peanut and red crown rot of soybean in southern China

Journal of General Plant Pathology, 2017
Calonectria ilicicola Boedijin & Reitsma (anamorph: Cylindrocladium parasiticum Crous, Wingfield & Alfennas) is an important pathogen worldwide, which causes Cylindrocladium black rot (CBR) in peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) and red crown rot (RCR) in soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.].

Identification and activity of a phytotoxin produced byCalonectria ilicicola, the causal agent of soybean red crown rot

Canadian Journal of Plant Pathology, 2011
Abstract A phytotoxin isolated from Calonectria ilicicola, the causal agent of soybean red crown rot, was identified as PF1070A, a cyclic peptide consisting of four amino acids. This compound is known as an antitumour antibiotic and to induce synthesis of metallothionein in mouse Ltk- cells. We tested PF1070A against three soybean cultivars that differ

Nodulation during vegetative growth of soybean stage does not affect the susceptibility to red crown rot caused by Calonectria ilicicola

Journal of General Plant Pathology, 2007
Soybean cultivar Enrei and its derivative lines, non-nodulating En1282 and supernodulating Sakukei 4, were grown in an experiment field naturally infested with the red crown rot fungus, Calonectria ilicicola, to determine whether nodulation elicits the disease.

First Report of Red Crown Rot of Soybean Caused by Calonectria ilicicola in Minnesota

Plant Disease
Soybean plants (Glycine max L.) with symptoms and signs of red crown rot were observed in approximately 20% of plants in a 3 ha section of a large production field in Rock County, Minnesota in August 2025. The symptoms and signs included interveinal necrosis on the leaves, root rot, and reddish discoloration and raised red to brown perithecia on the ...
