Effective nucleon mass and the nuclear caloric curve [PDF]
Assuming a schematic form of the nucleon effective mass as a function of nuclear excitation energy and mass, we provide a simple explanation for understanding the experimentally observed mass dependence of the nuclear caloric curve.

Optimal bounds for ancient caloric functions
For any manifold with polynomial volume growth, we show: The dimension of the space of ancient caloric functions with polynomial growth is bounded by the degree of growth times the dimension of harmonic functions with the same growth.

Caloric restriction decreases orthostatic tolerance independently from 6° head-down bedrest. [PDF]
Astronauts consume fewer calories during spaceflight and return to earth with an increased risk of orthostatic intolerance. Whether a caloric deficiency modifies orthostatic responses is not understood.

Caloric and video head impulse test dissociated results in dizzy patients
IntroductionWe are now able to detect abnormalities for any semicircular canal with the use of the video head impulse test (vHIT). Prior to the vHIT, the gold standard for unilateral canal paresis of the lateral canal was considered the caloric test ...

The Nutrition Elite: Do Only the Highest Levels of Caloric Knowledge, Obesity Knowledge, and Motivation Matter in Processing Nutrition Ad Claims and Disclosures? [PDF]
This study examines the role of the highest levels of caloric knowledge, obesity consequences knowledge, and motivation to search for nutrition information in the processing of relative nutrient content claims in advertisements, such as “half the ...

ObjectiveVestibular signals are involved in higher cortical functions like spatial orientation and its disorders. Vestibular dysfunction contributes, for example, to spatial neglect which can be transiently improved by caloric stimulation.

Numerical and thermal analysis of a caloric refrigeration device operating near room temperature
The application of external stimuli such as the magnetic and electric field in magnetocaloric and electrocaloric materials, and stress and pressure in elastocaloric and barocaloric materials give rise to a new generation of a refrigeration technology ...
