Vestibular function tests are helpful in differentiating between Menière’s disease and vestibular migraine

open access: yesFrontiers in Neurology
AimMenière’s disease (MD) presents with episodic vertigo and auditory symptoms. Vestibular migraine (VM) typically contains migraine features associated with the vertigo attacks.

Stimulator of interferon genes agonist augmented antitumor immunity of osimertinib in Egfr‐mutated lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining osimertinib with the STING agonist ADU‐S100 activates innate and adaptive immunity to overcome the non‐inflamed microenvironment of Egfr‐mutant lung cancer. This combination increases NK and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration, associated with activation of the STING‐IRF3 pathway and local immunogenic cell death.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

Liquid biopsy‐based diagnostic evaluation of hypermethylated CpG sites for ovarian cancer diagnosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This schematic outlines the workflow from biomarker identification to duplex MethyLight assay validation for epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosis using cfDNA‐based liquid biopsy. Initial screening of hypermethylated CpG candidates (cg02957270, cg10061138 cg00480298, COL2A1) was performed in tissue using ARMS‐PCR, COBRA, qPCR and image analysis. Selected

Low caloric value of ethanol itself increases alveolar bone loss in ligature-induced periodontitis in male rats

open access: yesBrazilian Oral Research, 2009
This study aimed at morphometrically evaluating the influence of variable caloric values of ethanol consumption on alveolar bone loss in periodontitis in male rats. Thirty-six male rats were randomized into four groups of nine rats each, as follows: Test

Quantitative proteomic analysis reveals different characteristics of bladder cancer cells after exposure to bisphenol A

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Bisphenol A (BPA), a common chemical in plastics, exerts dual effects on bladder cancer cells: low doses promote growth and migration, while high doses suppress growth and migration. Multi‐omics and bioinformatics reveal BPA acts via MAPK and inflammatory pathways.

Insights Into Responses to Caloric and Head Impulse Stimulation in Lateral Semicircular Canal Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo [PDF]

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Otorhinolaryngology
Objectives. The aim of this study was to investigate the pathophysiology of persistent geotropic direction-changing positional nystagmus (pGeo DCPN) by analyzing caloric responses and the clinical course in patients with pGeo DCPN and other variants of ...

Supine/Prone Mono-Thermal Caloric Test : Comparison of Hot-and-Cold Caloric Test and the Mono-Thermal Caloric Test with Reference to Spontaneous Nystagmus

open access: yes, 2001
Instead of the hot-and-cold caloric test proposed by Hallpike in 1942, the mono-thermal caloric test with assessment of spontaneous nystagmus has gained wide acceptance, because of its convenience, and stronger stimuli; however, no clinical evidence has ...

Comparison Between the Video Head Impulse Test and Caloric Irrigation During Acute Vertigo

open access: yes, 2022
Caloric irrigation (CI) is the gold standard to investigate peripheral vestibular dysfunction. The video head impulse test (vHIT) is faster and more accessible and may be useful during acute vertigo stroke risk differentiation.
