The screening value of monothermal caloric tests

The Laryngoscope, 1979
AbstractA valid screening caloric test should decrease examination time, increase patient comfort and maintain a high degree of sensitivity in predicting bithermal (BT) caloric results. This prospective study of 362 consecutive electronystagmograms (ENG) compared right/left (R/L) difference results obtained using monothermal (MT) warm and cold ...

Caloric values of Mites for bioenergetical studies

International Journal of Acarology, 1982
Abstract The caloric values were determined for adults and eggs of Acarus siro L. Caloglyphus rodriguezi Samsinak, Carpoglyphus lactis (L.) and Lardoglyphus konoi (S.and A.) using a diet of dog food plus baker's yeast. The house dust mites, Dermatophagoides farinae Hughes and D.

Measurement of Caloric Values

1975
Most models and essays that consider the basic processes of photosynthesis and primary production start with solar energy or CO2 as input and end with dry-matter weight produced as output. The importance of interpreting productivity in terms of energy also has long been realized but the large amount of extra work necessary to convert dry-matter values ...

Seasonal variations of caloric values in herbaceous plants

Oecologia, 1977
In 1975 some higher herbaceous plants of two different habitats were investigated according to seasonal variations of their caloric values both on a dry weight base and on an ash-free dry weight base. In eight speceis of a meadow and an old-field community, which were harvested each second month from February to December 1975, there were slight changes

VALUE OF THE CALORIC TEST OF THE LABYRINTH

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1948
THE CALORIC test is an easy way of examining the function of the vestibular organ. The results of the test are used not only in otologic practices, for ascertaining the remainder of function left in cases of labyrinthitis or other labyrinthine deviations, but also in neurologic or otoneurologic practices, for other purposes.

Caloric values of some North Atlantic invertebrates

Marine Biology, 1973
Nineteen marine species were analyzed for caloric value; 7 of these were analysed for seasonal trends. Variation in caloric value for the polychaetesNephtys incisa andLumbrineris fragilis was not related to season.Pandalus montagui (decapod shrimp),Leptocheirus pinguis (gammarid amphipod),Astarte undata, Arctica islandica (pelecypods) had summer maxima.

Caloric Value of Wet Tropical Forest Vegetation

Ecology, 1969
Energy values of tropical forest vegetation collected in the Republic of Panama differed significantly depending upon the type of forest and the vegetation part sampled. The pattern of difference was complex, with maximum values varying with the plant part and the forest type. Mangrove generally had higher values than other tropical forests.
