Modulated differential scanning calorimetry
Journal of Thermal Analysis, 1993Modulated DSCTM (MDSC) is a new, patent-pending extension to conventional DSC which provides information about the reversing and nonreversing characteristics of thermal events, as well as the ability to directly measure heat capacity. This additional information aids interpretation and allows unique insights into the structure and behaviour of ...

Modulated differential scanning calorimetry
Thermochimica Acta, 1994Abstract Modulated differential scanning calorimetry (MDSC) is a recently developed extension of DSC that adds a new dimension to the conventional approach. The usually linear temperature programme is modulated by a small perturbation, in this case a sine wave, and a mathematical treatment is applied to the resultant data to deconvolute the sample ...

Modulated differential scanning calorimetry
Journal of Thermal Analysis, 1997The reproducibility and reliability of the TA Instruments Modulated Differential Scanning Calorimeter (MDSC) was tested over a range of conditions. The equipment base line was found to be fairly constant with a very small fluctuation (10 μW), which means a 0.1 % fluctuation on the scale of a normal polymer MDSC curve.

Pressure differential scanning calorimetry
Thermochimica Acta, 1970Abstract A system is described for obtaining differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) data under reduced (to 10 microns) or elevated (to 1000 psi) pressure. Applications illustrating vapor—liquid equilibrium, competitive reactions, relative oxidative stability and pressure induced reactions are discussed.

Modeling differential scanning calorimetry
Thermochimica Acta, 1990Abstract The present study is a unified mathematical approach to the analysis of DSC data. It addresses the baseline correction to the DSC record as well as the solutions of DSC curves of single or multiple, physical and chemical transformations. In this study, previous results in the pertinent literature become particular solutions of the general ...

Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)
2008Physical and chemical changes may often be induced by raising or lowering the temperature of a substance. Typical examples are phase transitions, such as fusion, or chemical reactions, such as the solid state polymerization of sodium chloroacetate, which has an onset at 471 K: ClCH2COONa (cr) ⇋ NaCl (cr) + 1/n − (CH2COO)n − (pol) Differential scanning ...

Differential Scanning Calorimetry
1984The purpose of this paper is to review briefly the technique of differential scanning calorimetry (1), and to indicate how it may be used to determine enthalpies of phase change and of certain chemical reactions.

Differential Scanning Calorimetry of Proteins
1995Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) is a powerful technique to characterize temperature-induced conformational changes in proteins and other biological macromolecules. In fact, DSC studies on protein thermal denaturation have played a central role in the development of current views about the factors that determine protein stability. Reviews on the
