Programmable Liquid Crystal Elastomers Via Magnetic Field Assisted Oligomerization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents a straightforward method for designing programmable liquid crystal elastomer (LCE) actuators using magnetic field alignment. It combines thio‐Michael polyaddition for efficient LCE synthesis with a strategy that preserves the nematic phase, enabling the alignment of high molecular weight LCOs.

Development of Particle Flow Calorimetry [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
This talk reviews the development of imaging calorimeters for the purpose of applying Particle Flow Algorithms (PFAs) to the measurement of hadronic jets at a future lepton collider. After a short introduction, the current status of PFA developments is presented, followed by a review of the major developments in electromagnetic and hadronic calorimetry.

High‐Entropy Liquid Metal Process for Transparent Ultrathin p‐Type Gallium Oxide

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a doping strategy for harvesting ultrathin Ga oxide layers using a multi‐elemental Ga‐based liquid metal alloy. The incorporation of trivalent In metal into the self‐limiting oxide formed on the alloy's surface is enabled by the existence of atomically dispersed Pt, Au, and Pd.

Gamma Polari-Calorimetry with SOI pixels for proposals at Extreme Light Infrastructure (ELI-NP) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
We introduce the concept of Gamma Polari-Calorimetry (GPC) dedicated for proposals at Extreme Light Infrastructure in the Romanian site (ELI-NP). A simulation study shows that an assembly of thin SOI pixel sensors can satisfy our requirements to GPC.

Self‐Poled Halide Perovskite Ruddlesden‐Popper Ferroelectric‐Photovoltaic Semiconductor Thin Films and Their Energy Harvesting Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐dimensional halide perovskite thin films, (BA)2(MA)n‐1PbnBr3n+1 (n = 1, 2), exhibit both semiconducting and ferroelectric properties, enabling mechanical and light energy harvesting. Using Cr/Cr₂O₃ or PCBM as barrier layers ensures reproducible ferroelectricity.

High‐Entropy Magnetism of Murunskite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study of murunskite (K2FeCu3S4) reveals that its magnetic and orbital order emerges in a simple I4/mmm crystal structure with complete disorder in the transition metal positions. Mixed‐valence Fe ions randomly occupy 1/4 of the tetrahedral sites, with the remaining 3/4 being filled by non‐magnetic Cu+ ions.

Enhancing DUNE Physics Sensitivity with Light and Charge Calorimetry [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We investigate the potential of light calorimetry in liquid argon time projection chambers and its intrinsic self compensation properties, emphasizing its advantages alongside conventional charge calorimetry. Previous studies have demonstrated that light calorimetry can achieve energy resolution comparable to advanced charge based techniques ...
