Investigating the thermal stability of 1-3 piezoelectric composite transducers by varying the thermal conductivity and glass transition temperature of the polymeric filler material

open access: yes, 2002
The thermal behaviour of a number of 1-3 piezoelectric composite transducers is discussed. In particular, devices manufactured from a polymer filler with a relatively high glass to rubber transition temperature (T-g), and from polymer systems with ...

Thermodynamic Limits to Molecular Doping in Conjugated Polymers: A Perspective on Phase Behavior and Miscibility

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular doping of conjugated polymers is fundamentally constrained by thermodynamic phase behavior. This Perspective reframes doping efficiency and stability in terms of miscibility limits, binodals, and solvus boundaries, highlighting the role of effective interaction parameters and charge transfer.

Sugar-binding and split domain combinations in repeats-in-toxin adhesins from Vibrio cholerae and Aeromonas veronii mediate cell-surface recognition and hemolytic activities

open access: yesmBio
Many pathogenic Gram-negative bacteria use repeats-in-toxin adhesins for colonization and biofilm formation. In the cholera agent Vibrio cholerae, flagellar-regulated hemagglutinin A (FrhA) enables these functions.

Clustomesogen Showing Sub‐Zero Liquid Crystal Properties: Supramolecular Assembly Between Cs2[Mo6Ii8(OCOC2F5)6] and Hexaethylenoxide Containing Mesogenic Dimers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Associating a red‐NIR phosphorescent octahedral hexanuclear molybdenum cluster compound with hexaethyleneoxide chains bearing mesogenic units on both ends leads to an emissive hybrid liquid crystal showing mesomorphism on a very unusual temperature range down to −25°C.

Energy densities of key prey species in the California Current Ecosystem

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
The energetic content of primary and secondary consumers is central to understanding ecosystem functioning, community assembly, and trophodynamics. However, these foundational data are often limited, especially for marine ecosystems.

The application of microwave formulation and isothermal titration calorimetry for pharmaceutical compounds

open access: yes
Solid dispersions are commonly used to overcome bioavailability issues of poorly water soluble drugs. Various preparation methods along with carrier systems have been used to develop solid dispersions.
