The concept of cambium

1982
The cambium is a diverse and extensive meristem, even within a single plant. Thus, cambium is not easily defined. It is best comprehended as a concept, a generalised idea of what cambium should be. As a concept, the cambium must be treated either by developmental states or in some specific way in which it is manifested.

Winter Injury to Grapevine Secondary Phloem and Cambium Impairs Budbreak, Cambium Activity, and Yield Formation

Journal of Plant Growth Regulation, 2019
Vitis vinifera is a species of temperate origin that reactivates the dormant secondary phloem from the previous year at the resumption of growth in spring. Following harsh winters, grapevines may display a set of symptoms including delayed and heterogeneous budbreak, dieback with shoot renewal from the trunk base or sudden death of the plant.

Occurrence of crystals in vascular cambium

Protoplasma, 1984
Crystals are of common occurrence in plant tissues and considered to be waste products resulting from active metabolism of plant cells. They mostly occur in ray and vertical parenchyma of wood and bark of angiosperm trees and often develop in tissues which soon cease to be functional.
