Collaborative Target Localization in Camera Sensor Networks
2008 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2008Target localization is an important application in sensor networks. Although the localization problem in acoustic /radar sensor networks has been intensively studied, few consider the problem in camera sensor networks. In this paper, we propose a method to utilize the active cameras to localize the target collaboratively.

The case for multi--tier camera sensor networks
Proceedings of the 15th International Workshop on Network and Operating Systems Support for Digital Audio and Video, 2005In this position paper, we examine recent technology trends that have resulted in a broad spectrum of camera sensors, wireless radio technologies, and embedded sensor platforms with varying capabilities. We argue that future sensor applications will be hierarchical with multiple tiers, where each tier employs sensors with different characteristics.

DSPcam: A camera sensor system for surveillance networks
2009 Third ACM/IEEE International Conference on Distributed Smart Cameras (ICDSC), 2009Surveillance is emerging as a key application of camera networks. In this paper, we describe our wireless smart camera system called DSPcam designed for real-time surveillance purposes. DSPcam has a Blackfin processor, CMOS image sensor and 802.11 b/g communication module.

Traffic modeling and prediction using camera sensor networks
Proceedings of the Fourth ACM/IEEE International Conference on Distributed Smart Cameras, 2010We propose a Bayesian framework for modeling and predicting traffic patterns using information obtained from wireless sensor networks. For concreteness, we apply the proposed framework to a smart building application in which traffic patterns of humans are modeled and predicted through detection and matching of their images taken from cameras at ...

A hybrid localization and tracking system in camera sensor networks
International Journal of Communication Systems, 2012SUMMARYPosition information is of vital importance in the various applications in energy‐constrained wireless sensor networks. It has to design a localization mechanism considering both precision and energy consumption factors. In this paper, we propose a hybrid localization system in wireless sensor networks, which is composed of coarse‐grained ...

Energy Efficient Object Detection in Camera Sensor Networks
2017 IEEE 37th International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems (ICDCS), 2017A wireless camera network can provide situation awareness information (e.g., humans in distress) in scenarios such as disaster recovery. If such camera sensors are battery operated, sending raw video feeds back to a central controller can be expensive in terms of energy consumption.

Object coverage with camera rotation in visual sensor networks
Proceedings of the 6th International Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing Conference, 2010This paper is to study the object coverage problem in visual sensor networks. When sensors equipped camera with rotating capability in the monitoring environment are deployed randomly, the images of target object with circle shape may be captured by different camera nodes in different orientations at the same time. In order to achieve the full coverage

Achieving full-view coverage in camera sensor networks
ACM Transactions on Sensor Networks, 2013Camera sensors are different from traditional scalar sensors, as cameras at different positions can form very different views of the object. However, traditional coverage model does not consider this intrinsic property of camera sensors. To address this issue, a novel model called full-view coverage is proposed.

A quality-enhancing coverage scheme for camera sensor networks
IECON 2017 - 43rd Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2017Exploiting camera sensors to conduct intruder detection has attracted a lot of research attention. Different from the traditional sensor with omni-directional sensing model, a camera sensor usually has a specified direction with a fixed sensing angle of sensing area. The sensing quality of coverage is critical to the application of coverage scheme.
