ASAP: A Camera Sensor Network for Situation Awareness [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Situation awareness is an important application category in cyber-physical systems, and distributed video-based surveillance is a good canonical example of this application class. Such applications are interactive, dynamic, stream-based, computationally demanding, and needing real-time or near real-time guarantees.

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Game-Theoretic Camera Selection Using Inference Tree Method for a Wireless Visual Sensor Network

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2014
In a wireless visual sensor network consisting of wireless, battery-powered, and field-of-view (FoV) overlapping and stationary visual sensors, trade-offs exist between extending network lifetime and enhancing its sensing accuracy.

Novel Visual Sensor Coverage and Deployment in Time Aware PTZ Wireless Visual Sensor Networks

open access: yesSensors, 2016
In this paper, we consider the visual sensor deployment algorithm in Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) Wireless Visual Sensor Networks (WVSNs). With PTZ capability, a sensor’s visual coverage can be extended to reduce the number of visual sensors that need to be ...

Distributed Compressed Video Sensing in Camera Sensor Networks [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2012
With the booming of video devices ranging from low-power visual sensors to mobile phones, the video sequences captured by these simple devices must be compressed easily and reconstructed by relatively more powerful servers. In such scenarios, distributed compressed video sensing (DCVS), combining distributed video coding (DVC) and compressed sensing ...

Carboxylic‐Acid Functionalized Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube‐Alkane‐Based Resistive Temperature Sensor for Cold Chain Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a reversible temperature sensor with high switching ratio, ∼103. The device is fabricated using PET‐ITO and carbon nanotube dispersions in alkane. Considering its application in cold chain logistics, a proof‐of‐concept with LED is showcased. Thus, a temperature drop below the threshold temperature (crystallization temperature of the

Low‐Angle Grain Boundaries and Re‐Segregation in Single‐Crystalline Ni‐Base Superalloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work demonstrates that Re‐segregation at low‐angle grain boundaries (LAGBs) in Ni‐base superalloys is influenced by misorientation angle. Advanced microscopy and atom probe tomography reveal that higher misorientation angles increases Re‐segregation.
