Evidences of the Stabilization for Weeks of the Benzyl Cation in Zeolites
ChemistryEurope, Volume 3, Issue 6, November 11, 2025.The benzyl cation is plausibly formed inside zeolites after rearrangement of individually isolated tropylium cations at room temperature. The benzyl cation–entrapped zeolite is stable for weeks without any storage precaution, and a solid–state 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum of this iconic carbocation could be recorded.
