Well Control in Campos Basin - Brazil

Proceedings of IADC/SPE Drilling Conference, 2000
Abstract This article presents the actions taken in Campos Basin, offshore Brazil, in order to make drilling, completion and workover operations safer, especially in deep waters. Firstly, the paper describes the pioneer work called Safety Program for Dynamic Positioning Vessels (DPPS) in terms of well control that has been implementing ...

An Overview On Campos Basin

Offshore Technology Conference, 1988
ABSTRACT Exploration activities in Campos Basin offshore Brazil started in 1968 with seismic surveys carried out by PETROBRAS. The first oil discovery was made in 1974, one hundred kilometers offshore in 126 meters water depth. Thirthy oil and gas fields have been discovered so far.

Petroleum System of the Campos Basin, Brazil

2000
Abstract The Campos Basin, located offshore from Rio de Janeiro in southeastern Brazil, is the most prolific petroleum-bearing basin in Brazil. To date, Petrobrás has discovered more than 70 hydrocarbon accumulations in the basin, including seven giant oil fields in deep water.

Campos Basin Production Efficiency

Offshore Technology Conference, 1988
ABSTRACT The analysis of PETROBRAS production operations records has been of great importance not only for the effective correction of failures but also for the continuos evolution and improvement of forecoming projects, with paramount reflections on investments and operational costs reduction ...

Reservoir characterization of Roncador, Campos Basin

8th International Congress of the Brazilian Geophysical Society, 2003
Roncador field, at Campos Basin, is characterized by the presence of several compartments with distinct hydrocarbon API grades and fluid contacts. Geologic modeling used in flow simulation involved the determination of the spatial distribution of key reservoir petrophysical properties, interpolated between wells, constrained by seismic data.

Campos Basin, Brazil, a Model for Producing Atlantic Type Basins

Offshore Technology Conference, 1997
Abstract The Camps Basin covers about 100,000 km2 from the southeastern Brazilian coast to the 3,400 meters ideate. To date, 607 exploratory wells were drilled and about 425,000 km of seismic surveys were acquired and processed. Early exploration concentrated on Albian and Neocomian carbonates.

Basin-forming processes and the deep structure of the Campos Basin, offshore Brazil

Marine and Petroleum Geology, 1990
Abstract This paper discusses a worldwide dataset of deep seismic reflection profiles that help the understanding of crustal behaviour and the genetic processes that are involved in the formation of sedimentary basins. The events observed in seismic reflection data at lower crustal depths correspond to impedance contrasts associated with one or a ...

Evolution of Well Design in the Campos Basin Deepwater

SPE/IADC Drilling Conference, 1999
Abstract This paper presents the evolution of well design at the Campos Basin to meet the new challenges of deeper and deeper waters. It discusses how well design has evolved from six casing strings to only three because of the peculiar geological characteristics of deep waters, and technological advances.

First use of Swell Technology in Campos Basin Proves Water Conformance Solution - Case History in Campos Basin-Brazil

All Days, 2008
Abstract The Pampo Field is in southern Campos Basin, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and contains sandstone and shale reservoirs with good quality oil (14 to 32 API). In Dec. 2004, a major operator in the region drilled a horizontal well, which was completed with an openhole gravel pack.

Brasil MegaSurvey – A Regional Study of the Campos Basin

9th International Congress of the Brazilian Geophysical Society, 2005
In the frontier, deepwater province of the Campos Basin, finding hydrocarbon resources proves challenging due to a poor understanding of the stratigraphy, subsurface structure and depositional systems. All of which must be understood in a regional as well as a local context.
