Seed storage-mediated dormancy alleviation in Fabaceae from campo rupestre [PDF]

open access: yesActa Botanica Brasilica, 2015
ABSTRACTWe studied the effects of seed storage on germination and dormancy alleviation in three species of Fabaceae endemic to campo rupestrein southeastern Brazil. Fresh seeds of Collaea cipoensis, Mimosa maguirei and Mimosa foliolosawere set to germinate and germination of seeds after four, five and 13 years of storage was tested.

Regeneration after fire in campo rupestre: Short- and long-term vegetation dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesFlora, 2018
The Cerrado (Brazilian savanna) is the second largest biome in Brazil, covering 22% of the country, and campo rupestre is one of the most biodiverse ecosystem. Campo rupestre are extremely old mountaintop tropical ecosystems, composed of a mosaic of herbaceous, shrubland and savanna vegetation, generally located above 900 m above sea level ...

Lack of floristic identity in campos rupestres − a hyperdiverse mosaic of rocky montane savannas in South America [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The rocky montane savannas of South America, known as campos rupestres in Brazil, where they largely occur, represent a megadiverse habitat housing c.15% of the Brazilian vascular flora in less than 1% of the Brazilian territory.

Plant life in campo rupestre : New lessons from an ancient biodiversity hotspot [PDF]

open access: yesFlora, 2018
The years 2011–2020 represent the United Nations Decade of Biodiversity, aiming to inspire worldwide actions to support biodiversity conservation. This Special Issue illustrates the current knowledge of plant life in campo rupestre, a megadiverse, highly-endemic vegetation complex, and one under alarming and unprecedented threats.

Sauvagesia (Ochnaceae) in the campos rupestres of the Espinhaço Range, Brazil

open access: yesRodriguésia, 2023
Abstract The campos rupestres (rupestrian grasslands) of the Brazilian Espinhaço Range are renowned for harboring extraordinary plant diversity and endemism, yet many groups representative of this habitat remain taxonomically understudied. Sauvagesia, a predominantly neotropical genus of Sauvagesieae (Ochnaceae), is a classic example. In this study, we

Taxonomic treatment, geographic distribution and preliminar conservation status of Croton sect. Barhamia subsect. Barhamia (Euphorbiaceae) in Brazil

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, EarlyView.
The genus Croton (Euphorbiaceae) is an exceptionally megadiverse genus, encompassing roughly 1200 species that are predominantly distributed across tropical regions globally. For the New World, the genus is organized into three subgenera (Adenophylli, Geiseleria and Quadrilobi) and 31 sections, with C. sect. Barhamia standing out with its approximately

Floral trait similarity at the community‐level increases reproductive success suggesting facilitation through pollinator sharing

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
The ability of plants to attract pollinators is context‐dependent, influenced by floral traits, abundance, and resources from the plant community. Indirect interactions through shared pollinators, from competition to facilitation, may lead to varied reproductive outputs in plants, and the mechanisms behind these interactions remain to be fully ...
