Quand Albert Camus meurt dans un accident de voiture, le 4 janvier 1960, il n'a que quarante-six ans. Journaliste, philosophe, romancier, dramaturge, il a recu deux ans plus tot le prix Nobel. Pour ce « Francais d'Algerie » pauvre et sans racines, le tragique est indissociable de l'aspiration a un bonheur qu'il sait aussi precaire que le soleil de midi.
