Biometric Template Protection Scheme-Cancelable Biometrics

2019
Biometric template is actually digital representation of the biometric features that are extracted by applying different algorithms on the captured images of different types of biometric modalities. This digital information is stored in a biometric database for identification and authentication purposes.

PalmHashing: a novel approach for cancelable biometrics

Information Processing Letters, 2005
We propose a novel cancelable biometric approach, known as PalmHashing, to solve the non-revocable biometric issue. The proposed method hashes palmprint templates with a set of pseudo-random keys to obtain a unique code called palmhash. The palmhash code can be stored in portable devices such tokens and smartcards for verification.

Parameter management schemes for cancelable biometrics

2011 IEEE Workshop on Computational Intelligence in Biometrics and Identity Management (CIBIM), 2011
Protecting biometric information is a critical issue in biometric systems, since physical characteristics such as fingerprints, irises, face and vein patterns, cannot be changed or revoked like passwords. To address this issue, an authentication scheme called cancelable biometrics has been studied, in which the biometric features are transformed by a ...

Cancelable Biometrics Using Noise Embedding

2018 24th International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR), 2018
This paper presents a cancelable biometric (CB) scheme for iris recognition system. The CB approaches are roughly classified into two categories depending on whether the method stresses more on non-invertibility or on discriminability. The former is to use non-invertibly transformed data for the recognition instead of the original, so that the ...

Ensemble-Based Methods for Cancellable Biometrics

2010
In this paper, we investigate the use of genetic algorithms and ensemble systems in cancellable biometrics, using fingerprint-based identification to illustrate the possible benefits accruing. The main aim is to analyze the performance of these well-established structures on transformed biometric data to determine whether they have a positive effect on

Cancelable Biometrics: A Case Study in Fingerprints

18th International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR'06), 2006
Biometrics offers usability advantages over traditional token and password based authentication schemes, but raises privacy and security concerns. When compromised, credit cards and passwords can be revoked or replaced while biometrics are permanently associated with a user and cannot be replaced.

Cancelable Biometrics Realization With Multispace Random Projections

IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, Part B (Cybernetics), 2007
Biometric characteristics cannot be changed; therefore, the loss of privacy is permanent if they are ever compromised. This paper presents a two-factor cancelable formulation, where the biometric data are distorted in a revocable but non-reversible manner by first transforming the raw biometric data into a fixed-length feature vector and then ...

Cancellable Biometrics and Multispace Random Projections

2006 Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition Workshop (CVPRW'06), 2006
In this paper, a generic cancellable biometrics formulation is proposed by first transforming the raw biometrics data into a fixed length feature vector, then subsequently re-projecting the feature vector onto a sequence of random subspaces specified by the tokenised random vectors.
