The Role of a New Monoclonal Antibody Assay in the Detection of Recurrent Breast Cancer
The immunoradiometric assay “CA 15-3”, recently developed to measure a breast tumor-associated antigen, gave a mean serum value of 13.8 U/ml (S.D. 6.2) for this antigen in 156 non-cancer controls (36 biopsies for a benign breast lesion and 120 healthy ...

Breast cancer affects around 13% of women. Breast cancer gene 1 (BRCA1) carriers are prone to lung and lymph node metastasis, while breast cancer gene 2 (BRCA2) carriers tend to have bone metastasis. Findings of pulmonary nodules, mediastinal lymphadenopathy, and elevated markers such as cancer antigen (CA) 15-3 and CA 27-29 suggest metastatic disease.

Comparison of breast cancer mucin (BCM) and CA 15-3 in human breast cancer [PDF]
The Breast Cancer Mucin (BCM) enzyme immunoassay utilizes two monoclonal antibodies (Mab), M85/34 and F36/22, for the identification of a mucin-like glycoprotein in serum of breast cancer patients.

CA 15–3: A Prognostic Marker in Breast Cancer
CA 15–3 (also known as MUC1) is the most widely used serum marker in breast cancer. MUC1 is a large transmembrane glycoprotein which is frequently overexpressed and aberrantly glycosylated in cancer.

Cancer Antigen 15-3 (CA 15-3) is a glycoprotein often linked to breast cancer. Elevated levels of CA 15-3, above the normal reference range of 30 U/mL (units per milliliter), are frequently found in the blood of patients with metastatic breast cancer ...

The development of bone metastases in cancer can be monitored easily using three markers: 24 h urinary hydroxyproline excretion (HOP) (an index of osteoclastic activity), serum alkaline phosphatase (Alk.Ph.) (an index of osteoblastic activity) and 24 h ...
